The she-cat hopped on the High Rock, her eyes scanning down in the clearing. She saw no one there, but the blur of BadgerPaw.

She opened her jaws in a yowl.

"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the High Rock for a clan meeting!"

She yowled, it ringing around.

She stood there, the wind buffeting her fur, but she was absent minded. She didn't know if this would be the right choice, but she is just going to have to push the thought away.

Break Me Down

Badgerpaw sat near the Highrock, his amber eyes studying his paws. He knew what this meeting was to be about, and he wasn't looking forward to it as he knew he should. This attack would be wrong. The cat responsible had long since left her Clan to turn rouge with her Clanmate Needleheart, who was no better. But this would be the only was to reach the rank of warrior among his Clanmates. He saw no choice.

She was hoping that MoonSight was down there, so she could get a bit calmer with him, hearing his praise, his words.

Moonspirit padded over to Badgerpaw when no one was looking. She sat beside him, looking friendly as she whispered into his ear. "I will love you for whatever you do." She said, looking back to Foxstar as if nothing had been said.

Points Out All The Mistakes

Badgerpaw smiled sadly, flicking his ear as he just barely touched his pelt to hers. Her faith in him gave him hope, but that didn't change the matter at hand. "Thank you," he murmured in response. "But this isn't right. Foxstar won't even listen."

Cedarclaw padded back into camp, Sootclaw somewhere behind her most likely, her ears pricked from the call. A Clan meeting? That must have been when all these cats came together to hear what their leader had to say. The tortoiseshell came closer, sitting to the left of the medicine cat and apprentice, wondering what this was all about. She looked up at the she-cat atop the rock. That's Foxstar, she figured, the leader.

Indeed the black tom was close behind, admiring CedarClaw's every feature. He was purring, until he saw that there was a meeting.

He sat beside CedarClaw, pressing his pelt against hers, while listening. His limbs trembled a bit, but then stopped. War?

He said, he wasn't there when the clan heard about the incident.

What I've Become

Cedarclaw's orange eyes stretched wide. "What?" she cried when she heard Sootclaw mention war. She hadn't heart Foxstar speak, but now she was afraid. Was this normal for the Clans to attack each other? What if Sootclaw was hurt? What if he died? The tortoiseshell pressed herself into his flank after quickly licking her belly. If she was expected to fight, which she supposed she was, as a warrior, she would have to take the utmost care.

Fill In The Blanks

Badgerpaw realized that Sootclaw hadn't known of the night's incident, so he piped up. "At the medicine cat meeting last night, Miraclefur showed up and attacked Moonspirit and Clawpaw. That filthy rouge could have killed them both." The black and white tom carefully left out the part that RiverClan themselves had nothing to do with it, for fear of Foxstar overhearing him and challenging his loyalty again. He glanced at Cedarclaw, then, and was a bit puzzled at her shock and the way she leaned into the tom. From what he knew of the she-cat, she had despised toms. But apparently that had changed. He twitched his whiskers in amusement. He hadn't heard of Cedarclaw's own little problem.

SootClaw blinked slowly, licking CedarClaw's cheek, trying to comfort her, then looked at BadgerPaw.

"What? Isn't that not allowed? Why didn't StarClan do anything? She shouldn't of been there!"

His claws was now scratching the ear, sighing softly to himself.

"Why would we attack RiverClan though?"

Then he heard FoxStar speak once more;

"RiverClan is responsible for her actions, for she was the Medicine Cat. And the only explaination for her to arrive there, she must be the medicine cat once more."

She said that, since she heard of SootClaw's responce.

The Hand That Holds Me Down

Badgerpaw kept quiet when Foxstar spoke again, still worried about ruining his only chance at becoming a warrior. He knew she was wrong, and that this whole battle was wrong, but what could he do? "She's probably right," he muttered to Sootclaw, hating himself for saying it.

Cedarclaw shook her head. She didn't understand any of this. She looked to Sootclaw. "So we're going to fight this 'RiverClan'?" she asked, flicking her tail. As far as she knew, Foxstar was right in this matter. "Is one Clan attacking another normal? Does it happen often?" Te tortoiseshell wanted to know, so she could understand the Clan life better.

Try To Understand

Cedarclaw's belly tightened. Cats could die... Just like that. Was this how her life had always been; warfare and deaths? None of it seemed good or right to her, and on top of it all, she didn't understand the reasons. Some cats seemed to be opposing the idea, but Foxstar was the cat pushing for it. Since she was the leader, did that make her right?

Swiftwind lay himself flat on the ground, fur bristling. A war! His pelt prickled with first anticipation, then fear. What if Swanfeather was harmed? He knew he could fight well enough to keep himself safe, but what about his mate?

Swanfeather had just come back from a lone hunt when the call happened. She padded over to her mate and laid beside him, "This will be our first fight side by side." she mewed, "Two are stronger than one." she nuzzled him softly, purring quietly.
