Shattered followed his brother quickly after grinning happily at his mother. Things were going to be fine, now. His tortoiseshell pelt prickled in excitement. Was it time for them to become apprentices? Would they all get mentors and learn how to hunt and fight? His orange eyes shimmered eagerly.

She leaned to whisper into Spottedstar's ear. "May we talk about our names alone? I... I know them better than themselves and wish to name them accordingly."

Spottedstar's eyes narrowed. She had never had a queen request this before. But since Shadow could still pick up her kits and leave, the leader felt she had no choice but to comply. "Very well. We'll discuss this in my den." She leapt down from the Highbranch and padded closer to the kits. "You will get your names in just a moment. Your mother and I need to speak first." With that she turned and bounded into the hollow tree that the Highbranch sprang from.

Shadow followed her reluctantly, though she crossed the tree with complete ease-being a cat that once climbed two-legs nest roofs and over toppled silver cans that two-legs kept their crow-food in. She sat down in the den, looking at her paws. She was still unsure of her decision but she knew her kits wanted to stay here so she would have to as well. "I am sorry to hold the meeting at a stand-still but Dirtfur warned me that their names may not just plainly end in kit. When I named them I did not plan on them becoming clan-cats so obiously I gave them loner names. I know some might be able to stay the same... Like Heart and Claw. But..." she trailed off, leaving Spottedstar to speak.

Spottedstar nodded as she sat down in her mossy nest. "Yes, I see your point. Do you know what they should be called?"

"Well, I have thought about names for a long time, so here it goes. Claw, Clawkit... Heart, Heartkit... Fang, Fangkit... Blood, Bloodkit... Shattered, Brokenkit... But I... I don't know what to name Tears. Tearkit isn't a Warrior name is it?" She asked, tilting her head(for the first time in her life since she was a kit).

Spottedstar shook her head. "Not normally. Warrior names shouldn't make a cat sound weak." She pondered a couple names in her head, but she couldn't find a match. Truth be told, she didn't know this kit. "Do you any suggestions?"

"Tears... Tears... Tears..." she shook her head. "Greykit?" she asked. "I know that is a Warrior name." She said, pausing. "What about me?" she asked. "I know how to Hunt, and... and Fight... I don't need to be an apprentice."

Tears felt like knowing what was to be discussed, so he padded behind him, clumsily. He tried to make no noise, and appearently no one noticed, surprisingly.

When it came to his name, he squeaked.

Shadow looked at her kit. She turned around and licked him on the head. She picked him up by the scruff and dropped him in front of herself when she was facing Shadowstar again. She sat down, her tail wraped delicatly around her paws. "No son. You are much more than that." she purred.

"I don't want to lose my name! No! I want Tears, it isn't fair, Mom!"

His eyes welled up in Tears, fitting his name even more now.

"Please.. don't get rid of my name.."

He sniffed.

Shadow's heart welled, she hated it so much when he cried, it made her eyes cry too. She closed her eyes and nudged him close, purring softly so try and calm him. "The your brothers and sisters want to stay here, and I can't seperate you. I am sorry. We have no choice!" she stopped herself from crying only just.

He let out a hiss, and wailed.

"No! I can't stand this! Tears is my name, and it is going to stay that way! I'm not going to let some other cat change that, or our life!"

He shrieked.

She licked the tears from his face, keeping the steady, rythmic purr. "But son, we will start fresh. New life for us all!"
