Spottedstar flicked her ear, glancing down to where Phoenixsoul and Stargaze were still talking with a stern look. It was about time to get this meeting over and done with. The leader then turned back to the two aspiring apprentices in front of her. "This is a proud day for ShadowClan, by apprenticing two young cats to two able warriors. By doing so, we show that ShadowClan will survive and remain strong for moons to come.

"Pinefrost, you are ready for an apprentice, and so you will mentor Hollypaw. Windwind, you too are ready to be a mentor. You will mentor Owlpaw. I trust that the both of you will pass on all of your knowledge and ability to these young cats, and train them to be strong warriors of ShadowClan."

Shy Stargaze dropped his look from PhoenixSoul whenever Spottedstar gave them a stern look. His ears flickered back and pinned to his skull and he sort sunk into a low crouch and backed away a few steps. He knew Spottedstar didn't trust him, and now that the mentors were assigned he could leave. He could run away and never look back. He slipped through the crowd, towards the very edge of the camp. His eyes still watched to see if anything more would be said. Seeing as there wouldn't be, there would no reason for anything to be said, he slipped into the shadows, moving away from the clearing. As soon as he was out of earshot, he burst into a run, only stopping whenever he reached the edges of the clan's borders. Up a tree he went, as far as he could safely go. So he melded with the treetops. The white flecks could have been stars and the black could have been the sky. The only thing giving him away was the sweet smell that seemed to always flow off his pelt.
