Moonblossom woke up from a long slumber. The sun was starting to rise, but alas she did fall asleep early. She stood up from her bed and shook off the moss which caused her pelt to fluff up just a bit. She exited her den and walked into the clearing. The summer sun was just coming up as heat radiated into her pelt. The heat was unbearable but she needed to keep to her job.
The clan had been dead since the Gathering and Moonblossom hadn't had a great time listening to Shadowclan remarks. She stretched out her muscles and she walked around the clearing. She awaited for the other cats to wake up so she could start patrols and give out orders. Her paws ached for a run but she refused to leave knowing it was almost past sunrise. By that time all of the cat would be up. She hoped their leader would get on track.
She couldn't help but feel bad since she had to take care of everything from this past week. She knew that a trip to the Highstones was a long journey and getting your nine lives wasn't much easier. She never blamed a Medicine cat or former leader for being a little behind after a trip. She laid down on the stone just in front of the leader's den awaiting as movement began to arise in the clan. She smiled knowing it wouldn't be long before everyone was fully awake and fed. She wanted to get more patrols done before high noon and after high noon. That way all of the clan could relax in the shade for the time being.
She was tired of the heat and without much rain it could be only a few days before the rivers ran clean of water and Riverclan started a feud about food from the river. At the point all clans would need fish considering the damage from last greenleaf when all of the prey wouldn't come out until every cat was snug in their beds. Her tail tapped on the rock as she stared down into the clearing.
Her head rested on her paws as cats began to group up and eat. She sighed as her stomach growled knowing its own hunger. She stood up and jumped down from the highrock, walking over to the freshkill pile. She picked out a large mouse and sat beneath the highrock to eat in silence.
In only what seemed like a few minutes the clan was now bustling and full of life, she could see some of the warriors fooling with the kits and apprentices while others stayed in a small group to chat. She was half-way finished with her mouse when she looked up to the sky to see the sun was just barely over the horizon. She knew she would have to quickly finish eating and get patrols ready.
