A New Nest for the Jaybird (Rain Only)

Jayclaw was settling into the new next. He had brought colored feathers for their nests and flowers to make it smell nice. The Nest were comfy and soft. He smiled and purred, closing his eyes before smelling a familiar She-cat.

Rain walked into her new den carrying a scrawny mouse and an even scrawnier vole. "Hhmmph The prey is getting thinner and thinner.", she sighed a little worried.Soon leaf-bare would be over and it would be warm again. But this prey would be enoughto fill just the two of them. "Hello Jayclaw how are you?", she asked mildly. She settled down next to him digging into the mouse. She would have to keep her strength up if she wanted to keep her kits alive.

"I'm perfect because your here." He purred, he licked her cheek and smiled. "And I will eat whatever is left, you are the important cat. You have all the extra mouths to feed. He purred, he loved her and never wanted to loose her.

Rain let out a purr in return and sighed. "No quite yet.I would imagine that they are no bigger than an ant at the moment.", she smiled. She gave his cheek a quick swipe before finishing off her vole. She licked her lips and then resorted to giving her pelt a quick clean.

Jayclaw smiled, "Well, meat on your bones will help." He mewed, he sighed to cover his own stomach growling. He laid on his side and stretched out his claws, it tagged a feather and he pulled it over. He then threw it in the air and blew on it, it flew up and out the entrance. He watched it go and purred, "I Love you Rain."

Rain ears twitched as she heard the growl and pushed the mouse towards him. He would need to eat as well if he expected to live to be a father. She sighed laying her head down on her paws doxing in and out of sleep as she dreamt of kits and oddly enough the smell of freshly cut grass.

Jayclaw took a bite too and then closed his eyes, he laid beside Rain, his head beside her. He licked her cheek and fell into a light doze. He dreamed of a warm summer day with him and kittens and a dribble of rain made mist surround them. He as happy, he was here he belonged.

Rain sat up licking his head, a slight purr rumbling from her throat. "What do you want to name them?", she asked licking her belly.

"I think maybe... I'd like one to be named Jaybird... If one looks like me..." he said, blushing. He loved her and their names could be Beep Boop and Bap and he wouldn't care a bit.

"well of course.", she purred snuggling in.

He purred and licked her belly, "Hurry soon kits." he purred to them, then smiled to her. His mind was in bliss, after he was exiled life had no meaning-until now.
