Aphrodite padded down to her den with her parents. The other kits had left, so it was just her, Venus and Clear. She had grown into a beautiful young she-cat, still short, but if her pelt hadn't been ragged and her stomach thin from undernourishment she would have been radiating with her mother's beauty. She dropped a small bird, a thin vole and a rabbit in the den. She was a poor hunter, since she had never been taught, Clear being blinded first. "I brought some food." A rusty purr echoed in the cave.

The tom was getting thin, and his fur matted. He didn't like how he was blinded. He felt useless. He felt unneeded. He needed some purpose, he needed to do something to help this blood-sucking world.

Ever since he was blinded, he didn't lick the dried blood off of his coat. He didn't even bother to eat, except for three bites per day. You would think that he would of starved to death, but he didn't. He was fine.

Of course, his ribs were showing, every single one. He muttered to himself, pointless things. He was making himself go insane.

"Flora. Flora. Die. Die. Dead. Lost."

He seemed to say those words over and over, crouching low in a closed up place. A corner, well, a rounded corner, since the cave had no real corners. The sad thing was, Clear didn't look like Clear no more. He didn't sound like Clear anymore. He didn't even SMELL like Clear anymore.

What was happening to this tom? Will he be like this forever? Or will Venus save him? Will she make him back to Clear? Most likely. He needed to learn that he has more use in this world now, than ever. That he could help Venus. That he knew how it felt to be blind. Venus can help him.

Venus moved beside her mate, dragging the plumpest fresh-kill(the rabbit) for him. "Clear, darling, eat." she mewed, licking some of the dried blood from him. "We need you to get better, love. Eat it all." She nuzzled him.

Clear cringed. The gray tom didn't like how he was getting ordered around. He was the male. He was supposed to do that.

His claws unsheathed, and claws at the rock beneath him, small tiny sparks flickering off of the rock. He felt the sparks hit his fur, which made him grunt.

"No."

He hissed, his ears folding back against his skull.

"Please love, you can't starve, I need you." she leaned into him, purring softly. "We need you."

The gray tom staggered up, ignoring Venus' demands. He slowly limped towards the cave, but he couldn't even get a fox-length away from where he was.

He fell, chin slamming against the rock. He was too weak to walk. Too weak to really do anything.

He whispered.

"For me?" she asked. "I love you and I want you to be able to live a normal life." she purred, "I must help you."

"My normal life is gone. Flora left. I'm blind. All I am now is a useless piece of crow-food!"

He spat, disgusted with himself.

"Thats what I used to think about myself, useless I said, helpless. But you taught me how to use my extra sensitive ears and nose to help me. You changed my life, though Flora is gone we will miss her, but right now our task is to survive. And the only way to do that is to eat, and learn." she said quietly, just to him while pressing her pelt to his.

Clear ignored her, his eyes blankly staring at a wall. Of course, in his mind, he was staring at nothing but pure darkness. He saw nothing. He hated that.

Venus winced, "Not even for me, love?" she mewed, pain in her voice. She looked away, her head close to her paws as she cowered in his cold response.
