The Sun meets a Fox!

The yellow-colored she-cat was padding along the ground. She felt the frost getting caught against her pink pads, but she carried on.

She scented prey, mice, water vole.

She seemed to ignore it, trotting along towards the riverbank. She just had to see if RainWing was there.

She wanted to see him, she really did. She thought it was nice to feel his pelt against hers.

Her singly white paw took another step forward.

Craaaaaaack.

What was that?

She spun around, only to come face-to-face with a larger animal.

The animal was scary looking, making her take a step back.

By this time, she was already by the bank, the river still slightly frozen, but the ice was running thin.

Her paw went against the ice, a creaking noise swaying under the ice.

"W-W-What?"

She stared at the animal. It being reddish-orange, a snout streatching out slightly, and a big fluffy tail. It's paws were jet black, and it's eyes were staring at her.

"H-Help!"

She didn't know how to fight off a fox, she didn't know anything like that. She was confused, and she wasn't that big. She was quite small compared to this fox.

This fox must of been full grown, at least, that is what it looked like.[/size][/center]

Rainwing was with Dappledfrost on their way to Riverclan to speak with Firestar. His eyes were trained on the ground in front of him, millions of thoughts running through his head. He was leaving his home...the clan he had grown up in. And why? Because Starclan had bigger plans for him. His ears twitched and flickered in the dirextion he heard a noise. It sounded like a cat in trouble, by the river....Oh wait, it sounded familiar...

Sunpaw!

He looked to Dappledfrost, eyes wide. "She's in trouble!" Without another word, he dashed over to her as fast as his leg would allow, but had to skid to a stop before the bank of the river. She was on the other side, how would he reach her? He grimaced, backing up sum and crouching down. He only had one shot.

1...2....

THREE!

He leapt across, his paws just managing to grasp the other side and he stumbled forward, barreling into the fox and the two went sprawling in a blur of red, black and brown.

Don't Fall Now

Dappledfrost's ears were pricked in alarm as he threw himself at the fox. "Rainwing!" she exclaimed. What was he thinking? A fox that size was a big problem even for a warrior. She bit her tongue back. The tabby seemed to be holding his own for now, and the RiverClan apprentice was still standing frozen on the ice. Delicately setting her paws against the frozen hazard one step at a time, the brown she-cat made her way over to the apprentice. "Come on, get back on the land," she mewed, ushering the apprentice towards solid ground.

SunPaw didn't know what to do. The fox was growling tauntingly at the she-cat, her fur bristling with fear. She didn't know what to do. She was so focused on the fox, that she didn't realize the familar scent waft up into her scent glands.

Her eyes shut tightly, thinking it was the end. She was well aware that the fox was about to snap at her face, the breath going on her nostrils, til suddenly, it was gone.

Her eyes peeked open, seeing a familar cat laying ontop of the fox. She merely gasped, not realizing DappledFrost yet.

"R-R-Rainwing!"

Right when she said that, that was when she realized the medicine cat next to her. She paused, staring at her. Her eyes were filled with worry, worry for RainWing.

"B-But R-Rainwing n-needs h-help!"

She squeaked.

Hiding Behind The Mask

Dappledfrost glanced from Rainwing to Sunpaw. She feared the apprentice was right, but she couldn't let that show. "Rainwing is fine for now. You on the other hand are not. The ice could crack at any moment, and then we'd all need help." Again she nudged the young she-cat toward the riverbank, hoping she'd cooperate. If anything does happen to Rainwing, we might both need to fight.

Rainwing was doing reasonably well considering he hadn't trained in moons and was a little rusty. But old memories of the love for training came rushing back with the adrenaline and he just got right back into it. He had managed a few nasty bites and scratches on the animal and was now circling it warily to keep it distracted. Yet the sound of Sunpaw's voice momentarily distracted him. He glanced to the two she-cats, forgetting you should never look away from your enemy. In a split second the fox barreled into him and knocked him off his feet and to the ground hard, his head colliding with a rock beside the bank. Everything started spinning at that moment, as well as fading to black slightly. He lay there in a daze, trying to regain himself quickly.

Back Off

The medicine cat's head whipped around at the sound of his head hitting ice. No! She nudged Sunpaw a final time, mewing "Go!" as she did, and turning swiftly on the fox. The brown she-cat hissed in fury, then launched herself at the red flea-bag. Her claws flared as they reached for flesh, hooking onto the creature's back as Dappledfrost's fangs went for the fox's neck. She knew that she wouldn't even be close to as good a fighter as Rainwing, seeing that she had never been a warrior apprentice at all, but she would throw herself in front before letting the mongrel hurt her Clanmate.

The apprentice did cooperate, getting to the riverbank. After she did so, she scrunched down to the ground, her stomach flat down on the bare earth. Her ears flattened against her head, as a growling began to rumble out of her throat.

Her yellow tail tip started to twitch slightly, about to go after the fox, when DappledFrost got there first.

She let out a hiss of frustration.

"DappledFrost, no!"

She hissed under her breath, staying where she was, for she knew she would be no use getting there at the moment.

Rainwing scrambled to his paws unsteadily, blinking and trying to see straight. It was no use, his brain too rattled and the side of his head was throbbing. He saw Dappledfrost jump onto the fox and he tried to cry out against it but it seemed his words weren't working. It was like...his head and his connection..being a channel...was somehow disrupted and his senses and everything was out of wack. He was helpless at the moment.

Try As I Might

Dappledfrost was going at the fox's neck with her fangs, pulling at it with all her strength. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to really harm the fox. It barked and turned its head to snap at her head. When it couldn't get it's muzzle around far enough, it began shaking its head violently side to side, making its whole body sway. The medicine cat had was forced to release the back of its red neck, but when she did she was thrown off to the side violently. Her brown body hit the ice hard, making her feel dazed, and she heard the cracking of ice below her.

Ooc: Well...we could? But I was thinking he would go to Riverclan for a bit and then Dappled gets killed off so that forces him to make a decision, helped by Miraclefur coming back?

When DappledFrost was thrown off, that was the little apprentice's chance to do something.

Her hind-Quarter's rose, her eyes locking on the red fox. Her eyes narrowed.

How dare it hurt DappledFrost, and how dare it hurt RainWing!

She bellowed in her mind, while she charged at it, landing directly on the creature's back, claws digging into it's fur.

Her claws didn't hit the flesh, but the fox was shaking furiously, but she would not let go. Her claws were tugged into it hard, but that didn't stop the fox from rolling over on it's back, crushing the apprentice under it's weight.
