Brackenpaw smelled the scent of a squirrel in the air. He immediately took the position to hunt the squirrel.His but was high in the air like he was going after a mouse. Unfortunately the squirrel saw him before he was even close. It scurried away to safety. Brackenpaw crashed to the floor with frustration. At this rate he would never be able to hunt! He was angry that his mentor spent more time moping around about an apprentice he wished he had instead of training the one he did have.

Standing from a distance was Tigerfrost, She had seen the hole hunting accident."hey Brackenpaw your footing and Butt are in the wrong place"giggled Tigerfrost."hasn't your mentor taught you the proper skills on how to hunt a squirel?"asked Tigerfrost with a confussed expretion on her face. She walked over to the apprentice,"Try crouching right down keeping your butt and tail out of the air, then slowly put one paw in front of the other then when in range pounce and kill it quick"mewed Tigerfrost.

Brackenpaw whirled around quickly. "I wish! The only thing my mentor's taught me is how to clean out the elders den. I haven't even seen the borders. He spends all his time with Robinpaw." He said resentfully before looking back at the cat. "Like this?" He squashed himself to the forest floor like a snake almost sliding across the ground slowly.

"Very good, now theres another squrrel over there now try then mabey just mabey if you can catch three squrrels in time I will show you the borders"mewed Tigerfrost with joy as she saw brackenpaw try her technique.

Brackenpaw leapt up int eh air. "Really?!" He immediately set off to kill the squirrel. This time he flattened himself to the ground and when he came in reach of the squirrel he leapt landing a few inches to the right. He pinned the squirrel down with his paws and quickly killed it. "Was that right?" He asked waiting for a reply.

"very good! now burry it were you can find it again and lets find another"mewed Tigerfrost as she walked over to a tree and sat down. Her crystal-blue eyes scand the forest floor for another squrrel."Look right over there"mewed Tigerfrost as she pointed with a flick of her tail to another squrrel that had turned his back.

Brackenkit squished her body to the floor and wriggled closer and closer to the squirrel. When he reached the animal he realized there were two squirrels. He quickly hatched a plan to leap on top of the first one with his back paws while his front paws grabbed the second squirrel and finished it off. He leapt into the air and before he knew it the plan had worked and at his feet lay two squirrels.

She walked over to were he was standing "very good lets take that back to camp and then I will show you the borders. mewed Tigerfrost as she started to walk away but slow enough so that brackenpaw could catch up.

Brackenpaw squealed and leapt up running after Tigerfrost. Finally he was going to see the borders. Why can't she be my mentor! He thought again before following with a big cheesy grin under the freshkill he gripped in his mouth.

And so they headed for camp then they would be off to see the borders.
