Patchedfoot gathered up the prey she had gotten and headed back towards camp. She was eager to see her kits again. She had been on two patrols that day this being the second of them. She was nearing the edge of the grassy meadow when there was a snap of a swig on the ground. She stopped and swung her ears forward listening for any signs of movement and life.

Wavesong's white pelt appeared first, for his eyes were trained on the ground. He was on his own border patrol, and had been going for quite some time. Thus getting careless. Looking up he smiled sheepishly. "I guess I should have been paying more attention."

Patchedfoot giggled at the sight of the deputy. "No need to be careful in your own territory." She said with a smile and a lick to her paw. "That lurkclan has us all being strangers in our own territory."

Wavesong nodded glancing at the shadows. If only they could have made a better impression. "I want to get our act together on this...but I'm not leader. And Silentstar hasn't come back from her journey yet." Sighing he sat down, he remembered Silentstar's orders, don't do anything that he wouldn't do if she was here. It was about time though, that someone would have to take charge.

"At this point we have to wonder if Silentstar will come back..." She said the dark thought that had been on everyone's minds. "If that is so Windclan has a good leader in you Wavesong." She licked his cheek before she knew what she was up to. "I meant to talk to you about that, Ashkit is ready to be apprenticed in my opinion!"

Wavesong nodded, he desperately wanted Silentstar back. He'd never make as good of a leader as her. Especially during this, he wished he wasn't alone. Her next words made him laugh slightly. "I can't even handle an apprentice. How does that mean I'll be a good leader?" Pausing he closed his eyes, so many things had been happening, and more than enough kits were ready to be apprenticed. "That I know. I just don't know if I can do the ceremony as a deputy without it being frowned apon by Starclan."

"Perhaps a trip to Starclan is in order?" She asked with curiosity. She had not meant to undermine the deputy. "Silentstar has abandoned us they cant frown on us for moving on can they?" She asked with huge eyes.

Wavesong shrugged, still thinking about everything. How could he lead a clan? He would never lead it as well as Silentstar, he knew that. "I don't know. I've never heard of it happening before. Unless I didn't listen when I was a kit."

Patchedfoot giggled. "none of us listened as kits. You can do it i know it!" She said pressing her tail to the deputies shoulder for support. "That is after all why you are deputy."

Wavesong nodded slightly, only agreeing so as to stop her encouragement. He didn't deserve it, and he didn't want to hear it. "Okay."

Patchedfoot noticed that the cat was a little tense. "Sorry I know i'm a little overbearing sometimes." She said blinking her eyes and padding around a little bit. Something about her toes wanted to just prance around all day.

Wavesong shook his head. "It's not that. I just don't deserve encouragement. I wish Silentstar was here yet." Stretching slightly he went to go sit down by a tree. It was a pretty tree, or so he thought.

Patchedfoot nodded. She licked her paw and swept it over her head silently. "Don't we all? But starclan needed her more than us it would seem." She said with a slight touch of destiny in her voice.
