Shadowfang sat quietly out side near the leaders den waiting and eating a rabbit. She would help out her leader if needed and hoped nothing would happen for both Shadowheart and Dirtfur went into the den.

Don't You See Me

Spottedstar was getting fed up with the warrior. Why did there always have to be some sort of big argument? "Exactly, Dirtfur, I know 'how you get'. But you've 'gotten like that' more than once and had the same result. You said it wouldn't happen again the last time. Does this mean you're unstable?" Now she let her claws slide out, but she didn't plan on using them- not yet, anyway. "And was it an invasion, Dirtfur? Because it sounds like you didn't run into a patrol of warriors. They would have all jumped on you, and the only death would have been yours, not Stareyes. I told you it wouldn't be one, Tanglestar would have announced it to the whole forest, not lie about it. Its just not like her."

DirtFur's eyes narrowed, staring at SpottedStar.

"She attacked before they arrived. I don't know how many others were going to come anyways! I don't know everything, SpottedStar. At least I was trying to help!"

His lips rolled back in a snarl, the tip of his tail flicking angerily.

"Do you know how it feels? How it feels to kill a cat? How it feels to know that you have a burden crawling under your pelt? No!"

His pads were tingling, and his claws were scratching on the ground.

"You think I am happy about this? About anything? About ME?"

He merely exclaimed.

Let It Be

Spottedstar flattened out against her head. It was the same old words, over and over again. "No, Dirtfur, I've never killed a cat. So I don't know how you feel. But do you think any other cat will think 'poor you'? You've killed twice. Who's to say that it won't happen again? When Tanglestar gets here, she'll demand your death. So would any other leader." What did she think? Would everything even out if he died, or would it stir up more problems? Spottedstar didn't know. "This is about more than just you. This affects every cat in ShadowClan and ThunderClan."

DirtFur calmed down. He sheathed his claws, staring at SpottedStar.

"You want me to die? Go ahead then!"

It seemed as if he demanded that, standing there. He stared at her, ignoring any other words that came out of her mouth.

Shadowheart had backed into the corner of the den. She gasped and ran out the den, unable to watch it, her love like this.

Sell Me A New Personality

Spottedstar hissed. "Forget it; your head's not going to make up for Stargaze or Moonshine. I said they'd want you dead. I don't feel the desire to kill one of my own warriors!" Her claws sank into the earth. She seemed to be contradicting herself, but the leader barely knew what she should do. Hawkwhisper had once told her to be a strong and tough leader, to demand respect, but what would be the price of doing that? She tried to get her mind straight through the fog of thought. "Dirtfur, what do you think I should do? Banish you? I don't want to, believe that, but would that solve the problem? If you stayed here, would it cause a war?" Now she seemed to be talking to herself.

Shadowheart padded back in the den, "Tanglestar is here to see you, she said it is rather urgent." she mewed, fury blazing in her eyes. "Shadowfang is greeting her as we speak."

Time For Change

Spottedstar blinked, the flicked an ear as a signal that she heard. "I see. I knew she was coming sooner or later." Her mouth was a tight line, as she knew the situations would only bring a heated atmosphere to whatever Tanglestar had to say. Best get it over with, she thought to herself before looking to Dirtfur. "I suggest you stay here. We don't need any added drama today." Having said that, the ginger and white she-cat padded around the warriors and out into the clearing.

"She also said it was not about Dirtfur." she added, then turned her heel to tell Tanglestar Spottedstar was coming.

Don't Remind Me Of The Past

Spottedstar had heard the she-cat, but she didn't show any sign that said she had. Personally, she was relieved. But after all, Tanglestar had already been on her way to ShadowClan before Dirtfur's little skirmish with one of her warriors. With any luck, this would be about Clawpaw as she had mentioned, and not about an upcoming war.

Before SpottedStar left, he muttered in her ear.

"SpottedStar, can we talk about this later, alone? I suggest we should."

He tried to stay calm. He didn't want to cause anything else, not anymore. He thought it would be better to solve it together, alone, rather than having cats around.

His fur was prickling with unease, trying to ignore SpottedStar's words earlier, his claws sheathing once more. He wanted to run out, and hide under a bush forever, but he knew that would never be able to happen.

Meet Me In The Middle

Spottedstar closed her eyes. If she was to put her best face on for Tanglestar, more tension wasn't going to help. But it wasn't like she could ignore the problem forever. "Very well. After I speak with Tanglestar, we can go out into the territory to talk. The marsh fields should be best; not many cats if any will be there." His mew seemed more controlled now, a good sign. With any luck it would stay that way, but ShadowClan hadn't been on the good end of the stick that day.
