A Place to Ponder

Nightshade had just woken up from a wonderful sleep. The arm had been warm, and everything was just perfect at the moment. She stood up shaking the moss off of her pelt she walked out of the den. She lifted her haunches and stretched her front legs. Then leaned forward and stretched her back legs. She had only become a warrior about two moons and she was feeling proud. She shook head head as a fly flew past her ears. She bounded over to the fresh kill pile and peered into it. There was few fresh kill, and she would feel better if she went hunting to eat. She didn't want to take food the elders or queens could use. She looked over at the entrance, everything was quiet considering she got up early. She padded over and bounded through their entrance or exit. As she entered the forest, she lifted up her nose to scent any food. She knew it would be plentiful around this time, but Shadowclan was never one for having good prey. She quietly slipped through some bushes only to have the scent of a vole hit her nose. She quietly crouched down and began to stalk forward every step making no sound. She soon came up to it as it was just sitting around. She wiggled her haunches and pounced forward landing squarely on the vole. She bit into its neck before it made any sound, and quietly sat down to eat. She opened her jaws and took a huge chunk out of the vole. It was juicy and warm. She loved hunting for food in the morning. This was something she could do everyday. The food was warm and tasted fresh for real. After swallowing the first bite she took another chunk out of it. She swallowed this piece faster than the other, she licked her mouth hungry to eat the rest. She soon was half way done when she decided to go hunting soon after this.

She took out the last bite then licked her paws, and started cleaning her face. She stood up and shook her pelt and bounded forward. She didn't know where she was considering she never explored a lot of the territory when she was an apprentice. She walked through a little mud before she came up to a cabin. It looked old and broken down. She bounded forward before she saw a pool and walked over to it. Soon a whole bunch of thoughts raced into her mind and she laid down to think. She had no idea why stuff she was hardly worried about at her young age raced into her mind.

Whispertail had been out hunting for a few blackbirds when he scented another cat nearby. strange, there haven't been any patrols yet for the day... He thought to himself. He had made a point to sneak out of camp for some hunting before the morning patrols had been set in stone. He had noticed that the freshkill pile was looking pitiful and he wanted to get some more prey for it before the elders and the queens arose. He looked down at his two thrush that he had caught earlier as they had tried to race out of some brush earlier.

He picked them up and headed to where the other cat was. He saw nightshade sitting by the pool. He came up making sure to make a lot of noise so he wouldn't startle her. "Hey there" He called as he came up to her. He dropped his two kills down and sat up licking the pad of his paw as he felt a small rock pressed in it that he wanted to get out.

Nightshade turned her head as she heard paw steps just behind her. She twitched her ears to greet the cat, only realizing seconds later that it was Whispertail. She mewed, her voice sounding a little throaty from not talking often "Hey, how are you this morning?". Her tail swishing back and forth, as she continued to stare. Her hazel eyes changing to a deep ocean blue as sunlight hit them. She blinked a few times before turning back to the pool and sticking her paw out to tap the water. Making it flow in a circle she stared admiring the water. Her eyes changing back her honey gold hazel color as a shadow be fell upon them but still light was casted from the sun peaking out behind the clouds. She looked up to the sky light grey clouds moving in she sighed. Clan... Food... Mate... Drought... Rain... Storm... Flood... All this was racing into her head, she was bored out of her mind but she rarely thought about anything. She focused her attention back on Whispertail awaiting his answer.
