"Ah... Nothing like a sunny day after the storm, no?"
Warm sunlight pelted the ground, casting and amber glow across the land. The tom drank in the morning sunlight, sprawled across a mossy rock in lazy bliss. This was ordinary for him-the tom wasn't to bright and was even more so lazy. The constant worrying of the clans had never appealed to him, and straying onto their territory was a bother. The only time he ever actually came there was to steal some prey from some unexpecting sap who left their food burried in the dirt. His stomache was full, at the time, and the very thought of food made it ache more then it already did. The flood waters occationally carried drowned animals, so all he had to do was swim out and fetch them. Life was certainly easy. For him, anyways.
Simba flipped, his back, which had been facing the rock, turning to face the sun's bright rays. He couldn't help but purr in content-sunning himself had always been his favorite activity. Well, that, and eating. You get that way when living in a twoleg nest for most of your life. Yes, the he was a former kittypet who's, well, droppings smelled worse then crowfood. That was probably the reason why his twolegs had to drop him off at some torture zone-a farm, they called it-and left him to rot. There were many other cats there, but they were all so... terrifying. Why in StarClan's sake would he ever want to live there?
"Hm... That's the stuff..." the tabby tom murmered, closing his eyes and burying his face into the moss that clocked the large stone. It was cool-expecially because of all of the warm weather that had been going on at the time, and cooling off was just what he needed at a time like this. While the sun beat down harsh, warm rays, the rock below him kept him just cold enough to make him comfortable. "If I could die here, I would..." he mewed, ready to drift off into sleep.
But the day had just begun-that was no time for a nap.
As much as it tore at his heart to rise and leave to rock in the terrible heat, he had things to do. His first priority, however, was to find out just what those things were. 'I have to keep in shape if I don't want people thinking I'm fat and lazy... Well, I'm lazy, but I don't want people thinking I'm fat...' The brown outsider stared longingly at the spot he was just lounging in. "Don't worry, rock... I'll come back later... I've got stuff to do!" With a deep breath, the tom straightened up and began to hop away towards the Bracken River.
The only thing that had come to the cat's mind in that short period of time was to try to catch something and maybe save it for when there was a shortage of food. Letting out a deep sigh, he watched the water through half opened eyes. Waves lapped gently against the shore and the only disturbence in the water was a few natural ripples. The water's surface had yet to be broken. Simba's kit like instincts told him what to do-go for a dip. "Ah, what the heck. It couldn't hurt..."
With a joyous yowl and a huge leap, the tom had shattered the surface of the liquid in his own form of a canonball. With all of the floods, a couple of lessons in swimming didn't sound to bad, and this was the perfect place to start. The water felt nice-not to warm, but not to cold- and it was, surprisingly, not to murky. And the best part? There was no one in sight. He could spend the rest of the day here in the comfort of the water without anyone noticing.
Roseblossom was on her way to the poppy fields. It was about time she got more poppy seeds. She was running low on them and the only place to get good poppy seeds are the poppy fields. She should've taken a different route rather than this one but this was faster. She moved as fast as her legs could carry her. She hated being short for her age it made it hard to get around fast. She didn't partially hate it but she didn't like it when she had to collect herbs. That is why she always takes the short-cuts. She was finally at the river and she decided to get a drink of water. Besides she had a long ways to go still. As she approached the river she heard a yowl farther up the river.
Roseblossom quickly ran up river thinking a cat was hurt or something. She felt a little silly but it didn't matter. She ran fast and almost tripped over herself a few times. The only thing she held against running up here was that no one was hurt or in trouble. It was just a cat in the water. She sighed heavily and approached the water again. She crouched down and looked into the water. She dabbed it with her paw as the waves rippled. She lapped up a few drops before standing up again. She twitched her whiskers to get the last few drops off. Then she looked around and saw the poppy fields in the distance, the were far from her...
She looked over at the cat and asked "What are you doing out here? Also who are you?". She was very curious about the cat. He didn't have a clan scent on him so she knew he must be a loner or kittypet. She had no idea why he was in the water... She shouldn't be standing here but she wanted to know about the cat. She noticed his scent alot when going to get poppy seeds.
((Gonna be short 'cause it's late and I have to go to bed soon. I have other important things at hand, but I want to get this out of the way. And maybe we'll attract some of the members who aren't getting on to come back with activity.))
Simba's untrained noes didn't pick up the scent of another cat until she was sitting at the waters edge drinking the water in which he swam. Whiskers twitching in amusement, he smilled oh so cheerfully at the stranger who had come into his presence. But how odd it was, finding a clan cat walking through loner territory. The four warrior clans had not made an attempt to make any claims on this land, so wandering loners or lost kittypets could stray from their homes here in peace. No feirce looking cats to chase them away. And it this she-cat dared to try chasing him off, she'd wish she hadn't.
"What are you doing out here? Also, who are you?"
The tom's smile widened. "What am I doing here? This is free territory. I'm jus wandering about like we loners do. How lucky you are, having a nice and warm nest to crwal into every night. Are they warm? Your nests, I mean. I've only ever slept on cold, hard rock." That was a lie. Being a former kittypet, he could vaguely remember the comforts of his twoleg home. The plush fabric of his makeshift bed was far better then any ol' moss. But this mysterious she-cat who had come to him out of seemingly no where didn't have to know that. "And my name is Simba. Simba Valkyrie. But you can call me Shimzey. Or Shimz. Whichever brings you more pleasure. And, if you want to refer to me by a warrior name, you may call me Lionclaw. Or Simba is fine. But I prefer Shimzey." He shot her a toothy grin, his utter stupidity evident on his cute little face.
It was then that he realised that he had stopped kicking to keep himself afloat. And he plundged momentarily into the icy depths. Kicking furiously, he regained control and managed to arise above the water. "Bah, swimming is boring," he mewed, swimming to shore and shaking the water out of his fur. "You got some spare time? I'm willing to chat up a storm."
She looked at Simba quietly and spoke slowly "I'm not a warrior if you think I will chase you out. I'm only heading to the Poppy fields. Your allowed to stay here. Also after careful consideration I know your not a warrior. You have a very stale scent of kittypet and the outdoors with no other cat scents as far as I can tell.". She had no concern for him. She was about to walk away when he said "You got some spare time? I'm willing to chat up a storm.". She looked back at him and though this over. She could say yes but she didn't know if there would be a crisis at camp. But everyone knew she was heading to the poppy fields. So they could come and get her, plus she had a few questions to ask him. She looked up at him and nodded saying "Well I do have a few questions if your willing to answer them. Although that is up to you.".
