"Stupid squirrel,"the she-cat muttered angrily. Her neck was craned up at a sharp angle as she stared up at the large tree. That d**n squirrel was taunting her! Leopardfire growled and licked her lips in a menacing way. The squirrel made it's way up the large tree and stopped, seeming to look down at her. If she didn't know any better the stupid little vermin was laughing at her. Laughing at her! Her lips curled back in an angry snarl. The warrior had no patience for anyone or anything what so ever.
Her sheathed claws flexed beneath her paws and slid out. She had no intention of losing this 'game'. No, that squirrel was going to wish it never messed with her! Leopardfire held her breath and gathered all the strength that was in her and leaped at the bark of the tree. Her forepaws were outstretched as she latched onto the tree. Emerald green eyes blazed with fire as she began to climb her way up the tree.

That unmistakable sing-song voice echoed a bit throughout the area as a small, kit sized apprentice scrambled towards her fellow clanmate. Her amber eyes watched carefully as the spotted warrior scramble up the trunk of the tree, but she, surprisingly, stayed silent. The black brush of a tail she had swished back and forth and her longer fur along it picked up more and more dirt and dried leaves. She tooking note to clean it expecially well-it was always getting garbage tangled in the mass of fur. It was a wonder how she ever got it clean.
Shadowpaw honestly had no reason for being out in the forest-she honestly didn't. But roaming around the forest and wrecking havoc was more entertaining then training. I mean, really? She practically knew all this stuff. Everything came so easy to her. But her mentor insited she work on her battle techniques and hunting skills so she wouldn't get herself killed in battle. So, when they'd left her to train alone once again, she snuck off. It was typical Shadowpaw, after all-telling her to stay put was like sticking the biggest mouse that ever lived in front of her and telling her not to eat even a little of it. So... Here she was.
"You know," she meowed, "If you run up that tree it'll either climb up higher or jump to another tree. Then what'll you do?" She paused, waiting for a couple of moments for the warrior to reply. In her know-it-all tone of voice, she continued, "You know... Perhaps miss Shadowpaw can give you her assistance... If not, you might wind up falling flat on your face. And if I do help, I'll make sure that I don't lay a claw on the little bugger-that you can count on."
Wrapping her bushy tail neatly around her dainty paws, she stared at Leopardfire with a devious little smile. Batwing was beginning to see through a few of her tricks, so before she went and gave him another scare, she would need to come up with some more. Perhaps, however, Leopardfire was not the right she-cat to prank. But maybe she had a few tricks of her own. Plus, if she wanted to make a good impression for the higher ups, she needed to chat with as many cats as she could... Right?

As the she-cat made her way up the tree, each step was a little easier than the last. Her body was getting used to the idea of climbing. However, it wasn't long before she heard the sing-song voice of an apprentice from down below. It didn't take a genius to figure out who it was. Leopardfire stopped for a moment, pausing in her little journey up the tree and glanced at the ground. Shadowpaw. The moment she had the name in her head, she recognized the young she-cat staring up at her from below. Her emerald green eyes stared hard and her ears pricked as she heard what else the apprentice had to say.
"You know," she meowed, "If you run up that tree it'll either climb up higher or jump to another tree. Then what'll you do?" A low growl rumbled within Leopardfire's throat. Though she didn't want to admit it, she hadn't though of that before she began her epic journey up the tree in attempt to silence the mouse-brained squirrel. "Then I will just climb higher, besides the other trees are too far for the stupid animal to leap onto, not unless it wants to be squirrel splat!" With that, the warrior looked back up the tree. The height could be very intimidating to many cats, it was even to her, but she wouldn't let that get to her. If there was one thing other really knew about her, it was the fact that she was always determined once she had something set on her mind.
Her claws dug into the smooth bark as she climbed, leaving well dented marks along the tree. "You know... Perhaps miss Shadowpaw can give you her assistance... If not, you might wind up falling flat on your face. And if I do help, I'll make sure that I don't lay a claw on the little bugger-that you can count on." Leopardfire stopped and looked back down at the apprentice. After a few moments she shook her head. No, she couldn't let Shadowpaw follow her up the tree. It was one thing if she herself slipped and fell, but if this young apprentice did...she'd never forgive herself. The spotted she-cat glanced up at the rest of the tree she hadn't climbed yet, then back down at Shadowpaw. "I'm fine on my own Shadowpaw, I'll be right down! Leopardfire called down to the she-cat and stared right back up the tree at the squirrel...which had now gone missing. Great. All that work for nothing, her pride had just been stepped on. By a squirrel. The warrior felt another growl rumble deep within her throat. Oh how she hated squirrels.
Shadowpaw watched in silence once more as Leopardfire continued to make her way up the tree trunk. The warrior seemed determine to make this creature pay for taunting her. So that was were she got her suffix for her name, most likely. And for a moment, she felt a spark of respect. It was the fiery felines that she enjoyed spending time with most. Batwing could be a bit fiesty when irritated, but not enough to impress her. The she-cat's smile faded as Leopardfire remained in silence. She started at the warrior through bored, half opened eyes, even when the warrior let out a low growl.
"Then I will just climb higher," the she-cat insisted. "Besides, the other trees are too far for the stupid animal to leap onto-not unless it wants to be squirrel splat!" Shadowpaw let out an arrogent snort. "Well, you can't climb forever. Pretty soon, your big weight will either knock you down from the tree of prevent you from getting any higher. That squirrel? It's so small and light, it can probably crawl to the very top with little trouble. So, sorry for putting in my imput."
But, dispite her words, the green-eyed warrior carried on with her climbing. The apprentice couldn't help but worry for her fellow clanmate a bit. She was climbing up quite high. What if she slipped and fell? Would she be able to get by with little injuries? Without servere injuries? She wasn't one to worry, but something about this didn't... appeal to her. It was then that Leopardfire stopped and looked down at her. After a moment or two, the she-cat shook her head, flapping her head in a horizontal direction. The warrior looked up at the tree, then back down at her. She called, "I'm fine on my own, Shadowpaw. I'll be right down!" She thought bitterly, 'I'm sure you will...' The whole situation was beginning bother her... What if Leopardfire did get hurt? And badly?
'Stop kidding yourself, Shadowpaw... She's a warrior! She'll be fine and dandy once this whole fiasco is over~!'
The black female could just barely hear her growl once more, as the she-cat was pretty far up. What was wrong? Had she gotten hurt? 'Oh no... This is bad... This is really, really bad!' Trying to swallow the ever growing lump in her throat, Shadowpaw cried, "Are you alright, Leopardfire? Do you want me to come up? Hold on-I'll come and help out!" Scrambling towards the tree as swiftly as she possibly could, the kit sized apprentice began to claw her way up the bark of the tree. Her grayish colored razors dug into the bark providing somewhat decent pawholds. But they would not last long-if she didn't want to be sliding down the tree while getting debri stuck in her pelt or not make it to her clanmate in time, she'd have to work fast. With one paw, she yanked her entire body up a bit. And then again with another paw. Soon, the was moving her whole body, pulling with her front paws and pushing with her back.
'I-I'm doing it! I'm climbing a tree! My very first tree! Wait 'til my mentor finds out!'
But it was then that she snapped back to reality only to discover that she had not climbed the tree at all. In fact, all the she-cat did was tear up bark and make an utter fool of herself-she hadn't even lifted herself a tail length or two from the ground and the she-cat felt herself set aflame with shame. 'Yeah...' she thought in embarrasment. 'Can't wait 'til my mentor finds out...' Today was not her day. 'This would be so much more entertaining if I was poking fun at Batty... Boo...'
Taking a couple of deep breaths, Shadowpaw gathered up her courage. "Okay, now I'm really coming up!" she called, feirce determination filling her mew. "And this time," she said to herself, her voice so quiet it would be difficult for Leopardfire to hear her. "I'll do it for real!" Stabbing her unsheathed claws into the tree stump, she gritted her teeth in frustration. She would have so many splinters after this was all over... And even more if she slid back down the tree side. Digging the claws on her other paw into the tree, once again, she attempted to left herself up.
Finding a good paw hold with her hind legs, she actually found herself climbing up the side of the large plant. She was actually doing this.
"I-I'm actually doing it! I... I'm climbing! Do you hear that world? I'm climbing a tree!"
The she-cat scurried up the trunk, completely forgetting why she was even doing so. All she could think about was her, climbing a tree, of all things. It felt so good-the feeling of the wood beneath her paws, the scent of the bark, and the feeling of raising high above the forest ground. The sky was the limit after all. And then it hit her-she had to check on Leopardfire, not scramble up wood for no good reason! "I'll be right there! I'm closing in! Soon, I'll be with-" Suddenly, the black apprentice found her paws slipping. The sensation of falling, of the distance between to ground and herself quickly growing smaller. And then...
Thud!
"Ouchies..." Shadowpaw moaned as she landed on her bottom. She'd only climbed a few fox lengths before falling to the ground, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt. "Looks like I'm... not coming up..."

"Are you alright, Leopardfire? Do you want me to come up? Hold on-I'll come and help out!" Emerald green eyes widened to the size of saucers as the heard those words from from the small apprentice. Leopardfire felt her breath catch in her throat with fear for the she-cat. No! This is bad, very, very bad! What is she thinking? She can't follow me up here! The large warrior was frozen in her spot as she craned her neck down to get a better look at Shadowpaw.
The apprentice had her claws latched onto the bark of the tree and attempted to climb. Leopardfire was about to yell out to her to stop what she was doing and wait for her to climb down. Though Shadowpaw seemed to be in her own little world. Then it seemed as if she had just snapped out of lala land and realized that she had gone no where. The spotted warrior pricked her ears and caught what the apprentice was saying, "Okay, now I'm really coming up!" Then Leopardfire heard a series of mumurs that she couldn't catch. She was too high up.
The warrior tossed her head and made her first move down the tree. She loosened her grip on the large tree with her front claws and with her left hind leg, she took one light step down. Then she repeated the action with her right hind leg. Soon she got the hang of it and began to climb down faster than she started to.
Just for a moment, the warrior glanced down the tree to see how far she was from the ground only to notice that Shadowpaw had made a few good fox lengths up the tree. "Shadowpaw!" Leopardfire called, loud and clear as she tried to get the apprentice's attention. However, the moment she called out the young she-cat's name, to her horror the apprentice lost her grip on the trunk of the tree. Her eyes widened, the fierce determination that once glowed in her shiny emeralds were now full of fear. Fear for the young apprentice. Oh no! No no no, dear StarClan I hope she's not hurt!
"Shadowpaw! Stay right where you are, I'm coming down so don't move!" The warrior yelled and nearly growled. Leopardfire began to climb down the tree faster now, in attempt to get to Shadowpaw as quickly as she could. All the while praying to StarClan that nothing was seriously wrong.
Roseblossom quietly walked through the forest. She was enjoying a stroll through the forest. The scents of herbs and prey filling her nostrils. She jumped elegantly from log to log as she jumped on the ground leaves flew around her. She caught one as she put her paw up. She was enjoying this day til she heard a familiar voice of Leopardfire scream "Shadowpaw!". Roseblossom then slammed her paw on the ground crushing the leaf. She ran towards the voice or as she remembered it come from. She finally came to them to see Leopardfire climbing down swiftly and Shadowpaw on the ground. She ran towards them rushing out "Leopardfire what happened? Are you okay Shadowpaw?". Her voice sounding breathless even though it wasn't. She rushed up to Shadowpaw looking at her making sure she was okay.
