The warm sand burned beneath her paws as she took careful, thought out steps. It was sun-high. The time of the day where the fiery star was highest in the sky and shone down upon every dark crack upon the earth. Too bad for her, the she-cat was completely black. Dark colors are known for absorbing the heat at the fastest rate, which was great for leaf-bare and not-so-great for leaf-green. However, Nightfox didn't care.
Her bright amber gaze was fixed on the cold, salty water up ahead. The RiverClan warrior licked her chops when she thought of all the kinds of fish that could be swimming in that ocean. She could already imagine the delicious taste of the prey in her mouth. With that thought in mind, she trotted with quiet ease over to the freezing water, her black tail streaming behind her.

Ashwing left the camp after a long morning and now for a long afternoon. He would go down to the river and fish a bit or something. Normally he would run but he decided to walk instead. It was gonna be a long walk but that didn't matter. Soon he caught Nightfox's scent. He would've followed it but he had a feeling he knew where she was going. Fishing besides what else is there to do. He was half-way to the river when he stopped. The flood was rising so high it would reach the camp soon. What were they gonna do. He really hated to worry about it so he put it to the back of his mind. He didn't like fishing now so he decided he would follow Nightfox's scent. He walked a few fox lengths maybe more before he came to a stop. He sniffed the air again only to smell salt water. Her sweet scent gone from the gross smelling salt water. But what was she doing here. No fish would be here or atleast thats what he though. He walked a few more fox lengths to see her in the distance. He ran for what seemed like forever til he caught up with her. His fur flattened by the wind. He was able to say "What are you doing all the way out here?". He was very curious but she didn't need to answer it wasn't his buisness.
The wind crashed against her body and ruffled her fur. The small she-cat clenched her eyes tight until the strong breeze died down, she didn't want sand in her eyes. Once the wind died down slightly, a familiar scent filled her sensitive nostrils. However, she didn't take much note of it.
Her amber gaze was fixed on the ocean, watching the waves at shore fold over and crash along the wet, cold sand beneath them. She breathed a light sigh and closed her eyes for a brief moment. Why did things always turn out the way no one wanted them to be? Why did life always have to be so annoying? One day you were happy and the next you wanted to hide. Hide from all the dangers and demons that were out to snatch at you whenever they could. A distant memoriy filled her mind, but she shook her head. No, not now, she thought and lifted her head toward the sky.
It was strange how her moods could sometimes shift so easily. Wasn't she happy just a moment ago? Well, not exactly she just felt hungry. The RiverClan warrior still did.
Nightfox nearly jumped when the cold, salty water brushed against her paws. This made her realize how close she had actually gotten to the water without knowing. A light breeze past by and once again there was that familiar scent, only stronger. "What are you doing all the way out here?" The she-cat's nose twitched with slight annoyance, not sure if the tom just ended up here or if he actually followed her. "Why? You're not following me are you?" Nightfox answered, her tone slightly harsh, but not meant to hurt. She didn't even bother to turn and look at him.
Ashwing waited patiently for her comment, answer, or remark. He didn't mind her bad attitude sometimes and he wasn't really bothered. When he heard her say 'Why? Your not following me are you?'. He sighed heavily and answered "I was gonna go fishing when I caught your scent. The first time I decided not to follow it but then I didn't go hunting. So I followed your scent.". His tailing swishing back and forth on the sandy beach. He didn't even know about this place. Then another scent caught in his nose. He knew who it was 'Icepaw'. She didn't come around alot but she loved to bother him. He didn't understand why Icepaw did that. She was calm but followed him anywhere he went. It was not normal for a apprentice to do that but he didn't mind.
Icepaw knew he scented her but she wouldn't come out. She wiggled her haunches then jumped. She landed squarly on his back and giggled. She hoped he wasn't mad at her. She was surprised he didn't she was following him til now. Nightfox looked so dark to her not evil dark but pelt dark. She must be burning under that pelt of hers. She still couldn't believe that she was all black and she didn't whine about being hot. She was some cat to not do that. She was kinda glad to partially know Nightfox. Then the smell of Salt water hit her nose and she cringled her nose. It smelled bad kinda not something she would want to drink.
Ashwing sat there waiting for Icepaw's attack. He looked at Nightfox and said "You know if you wanted time alone just tell me next time. Instead of throwing a remark out there.". He wasn't that bothered but it did get annoying sometimes. Then he felt Icepaw's weight fall on him. She was heavy for a apprentice but he was able to get her off. Then he turned to Nightfox and waited for her answer.

As she waited for his response, the black she-cat walked slightly further into the water. The waves crashing upon the beach caused the water to cover her paws. Nightfox glanced behind her at the cold, wet sand once the water had retreated back into the ocean and spotted her paw steps along the sand. Most cats would hate getting wet, but she was a RiverClan cat. They were used to being wet and in fact, they could even swim. The black she-cat had always welcome water, she enjoyed fishing and swimming.
"I was gonna go fishing when I caught your scent. The first time I decided not to follow it but then I didn't go hunting. So I followed your scent." Her whiskers twitched in response as she closed her eyes when another wave nearby crashed upon the sandy ground. I see, she thought. Nightfox never really spent a lot of time actually talking to other cats. She was kind and respectful when she needed to be, but in general she was just quiet. Some mistook her for being shy, but that was never the case. Nightfox wasn't shy to say anything to anyone that she felt she needed to say. The black warrior was just quiet and observant. "You know if you wanted time alone just tell me next time. Instead of throwing a remark out there." Ears pricked at this and she craned her neck to meet Ashwing's eyes. Looks like he's a sensitive one, she remarked in her head. The she-cat didn't mean to come off as rude.
Hence was one of the reasons why she wasn't a talkative one. Some cats were sensitive and mistook her replies as being rude or as an insult. Nightfox inwardly shrugged, that was their problem not her's. "No, the she-cat began, "I was just curious." Her reply was short and sweet.
Ashwing threw Icepaw off his back and nodded at the she-cat. He understood se wasn't trying to be rude. He shook his pelt the dashed into the water but not to fast and came back with a fish in his mouth. He dropped it onto the sand and stuck his tongue out. The fish tasted weird from there normal. He pick it up and went up where the grass was a buried it before coming back down. He opened his jaw in a gaping yawn. He twitched his ears to both sides then looked back into the water. It was cold but salty.
Icepaw flew of his back and rolled through the sand. Soon she got up and shook her pelt. Now she was brown instead of white and brown. She was amused by this instead of mad. Besides why would she be mad. She crouched down slowly and waited for him to be off-guard. When he came back down from burying the fish she jumped on his back. And crawled to where she could see ver his head. She saw Nightfox and said "Hi Nightfox!". She was waving one paw in the air.
Ashwing didn't shake her off or anything. He just let her sit on top of him. He looked at Nightfox then at the sky. He yawned again then finally shook off Icepaw and laid down. He was to tired to stand. He had been up alot recently doing stuff. But that didn't matter all the time. He decided he woud watch Nightfox fish. If she was gonna fish.
Nightfox watched as the brown and black apprentice slid off the warrior before her. Her pelt rolling and sinking in the sand, the small grains embedding into her coat. The she-cat almost laughed in amusement at this. The sand was hot, Tch oh wouldn't I know. The black she-cat then shook and ruffled her fur, now feeling self conscious of the little grains of sand in her fur. Ugh, cleaning myself later will taste terrible...all that sand and salt, she thought with a slight shiver.
Amber eyes slowly moved to where Ashwing had gone off to. The ocean. She saw that he had practically made a first-head dash into the salty water, it wasn't long before she saw that he had something in between his jaws. Nightfox lifted her dark nose and scented the air, her mouth parted as she took in all the scents. Heat, sand, salt, water, birds and fish. The latter practically made her drool with want. She made her decision and padded over to where the tom was with his catch. Fish.
The warrior opened her mouth in an attempt to say something, most likely a compliment, when she almost jumped back in surprise as a certain apprentice had leaped onto his back. Nightfox's tail flicked in slight annoyance. "Hi Nightfox!" The young apprentice's familiar scent drifted over her, but was slightly masked by the many grains of sand she had on her fur.
"Hello," the black she-cat mewed in response and glanced at Ashwing before she made her way to the ocean once again. Her amber eyes thoroughly searched the edge of the sea for any signs of fish. At the corner of her eyes, she spotted a small seagull eying a certain area within the salty water. Nightfox knew what that meant. With a spring of her hind legs, she sprinted into the water and took a large leap. The unsuspecting fish came into her few and she licked her chops. A black paw dashed into the small waves of the water and scooped up the large fish. With a small purr, she bit into her prey, swiftly taking it's life.
Ah, I love hunting. Success is a good feeling. The RiverClan warrior praised herself as she trotted out of the water and onto the hot sand. Not wanting to drop her catch and get it full of sand, she settled for placing it upon a rock nearby. She moved with her tail up high and leaped up. Thankfully, the rock was in a shady spot so she'd be out of the sun. Someone will eat well tonight, Nightfox mused as she leaned of her prey and hissed at the trolling seagulls, easily scaring them off.

Ashwing sat on the sand a cold breeze ruffling his fur. He knew what is ment but he decided not to think about it. He opened his eyes to see Nightfox leaning over the water. He twitched his whiskers amused. Normally she should've fished somewhere else. Soon he looked down the ocean on where the sun would set. Sunset would be his favorite time of the day. Soon his attention got drawn from the ocean annd back to Nightfox. She was running down the bank to a seagull. He nodded his head in approval she was now thinking like a riverclan cat. He watched as she came out with a fish and went to place it somewhere for later.
He watched as Icepaw ran past him to Nightfox as Nightfox ran some seagulls away. Icepaw ran up the hill her little legs trying to climb every rock. As soon as she reached the top she caught Leafdapple's scent she guessed patrol. She pranced down the rocks before she figured out where Leafdapple was. Leafdapple would be her mentor and she couldn't wait til Leafdapple found. Soon she looked in the water and scooped up two fish and killed them before they touched the sand.
Leafdapple was right behind the tree she passed the hill a few times to make Icepaw think she was on patrol. This would be very easy. She watched as her yound apprentice hunted for fish. Her stomach growled a bit from hunger. She wished she had eaten before she decided to come down here.. She trotteed down the hill to praise her apprentice. By the time she got down there Ashwing was sitting Icepaw was fishing and Nightfox was on the hill. She dipped her head in greeting to Nightfox and Ashwing. She walked up to Icepaw to say "Great job on your fishing but you nose could use a little work.". She touched Icepaw's nose with her tail at the same moment she said nose.
