Froststorm would have liked to slit the tom's throat, but he could already feel himself draining away. Ice was getting farther and farther away from the Moonstone, and he couldn't keep his form anymore. "Ice is me. Whether you like it or not, he is me. He doesn't have a choice in his future. You'll see that soon enough." The tabby chuckled darkly, then his whole body faded into the air until there was nothing else, and Froststorm once again ceased to exist.

Coming Up To This Part

Dappledfrost nodded. "Alright, then. Even if things do go bad, I'm sure StarClan will do their best to protect every cat." When Miraclefur looked about her with unease in her eyes, the ThunderClan she-cat couldn't help but do the same. With all that had gone on that night, she wasn't that at ease with the idea of another unwelcome visitor coming along. "Good luck with Ice and Needleheart. But you should get going, in case Needleheart realizes you were gone."

MiracleFur sighed, and looked around. She wanted to wait for RainWing, but she looked back at DappledFrost.

"She can bite me."

She laughed a bit. Then wrinkled her nose.

"I think I should wait for RainWing, it would be wise."

She looked at the tunnel, and sighed.

Closing Time

Dappledfrost laughed lightly, then stretched out her legs. "Well, alright then. But I should head out. It'll be dawn soon, and if I'm not back by then some cat might raise questions." Not to mention that she was awfully tired. She had once been able to stay up whole nights for these meetings, but she just couldn't seem to manage it anymore. "I'll see you, then," she mewed in farewell, and started padding back toward ThunderClan territory.

Rainwing watched him disappear, shaking his head. He murmured to himself as he was just waking up. "No...he will have a choice, every cat should." And with those last words he snapped awake. He let out a breath, getting to his paws and shaking his fur. He looked around and saw only Miraclefur left. "Miraclefur...where's Dappledfrost?" He had wished to discuss the latest prophecy with his former mentor...

"She went back alone.."

She sat down, staring at him.

"RainWing, you don't think badly of Ice at all, do you?"

It was an honest question, and she really would like to talk to RainWing once more.

Rainwing frowned, wishing he hadn't missed his mentor. He was about to go when Miraclefur spoke again. He stopped, looking to her. "No....I don't. I'm just worried about him. Even though he reminds me of Froststorm, I want him not to be anything like him. That's one reason I didn't want him in here. Froststorm is not a good influence."

MiracleFur sighed, and nuzzled the tom's cheek.

"RainWing, StarClan spoke to me; They spoke to me after I got here. I left, for one reason, and Starclan told me why tonight.

Ice is my repsonsibilty, they said I have to keep him safe, to make sure he doesn't turn out like FrostStorm, not at all. Not to commit murder, not to anything wrong..

Believe me RainWing, I sent him here, so he could actually see what he had to see. I was expecting StarClan to tell him things, but instead..."

Rainwing listened to her quietly and knew that for once, another cat had a burden almost as heavy as his own. "I understand Miraclefur....I'll help you whenever you need it. And I'll take care of your clan till you come back." He smiled lightly, licking her cheek and nodding to her. "I promise."
