Dappledfrost padded towards Mothermouth, her paws prickling with antisipation. Tonight was the night she would present Rainpaw to StarClan. She had done this once before, but had no intention of doing it more than once.

Dappledfrost turned to look over her shoulder. Rainpaw would be coming up behind her, but otherwise she was alone here. Hopefully nothing would prevent the other medicine cats from coming here tonight.

MiraclePaw had ran in, ahead of Solospot. She always loved seeing the stone, the stone that shone across the whole 'cave'. When she dashed in, she saw DappledFrost, and mew'd loudly, a greeting.

"Hey, DappledFrost!"

She purred.

Moonpaw was followed shortly by Miraclepaw, "Hey Dappledfrost! Hi Miraclepaw!" she said, puffing slightly out of breath.

Rainpaw was slowly making his way behind Dappledfrost. He refused help because to him, this was something he had to deal with himself. Though, because of the throbbing injury, he was cranky and not very friendly at the moment. Actually, he beginning to be like that more and more, like an old elder instead of a young apprentice. He stopped behind Dappledfrost, taking in the two she-cat's scents. Miraclepaw and Moonpaw. He had seen them at Gatherings before, so he knew who they were. But where were their mentors?

Dappledfrost purred a welcome. "Greetings, young apprentices. I hope StarClan has treated your Clans well." She turned her head and angled her ears towards Rainpaw. "I'd like to introduce my own apprentice, Rainpaw." The words made her feel proud, even though she her apprentice's eyes showed storm clouds.

MiraclePaw purred, her mult-colored pelt prickly with happiness. She pressed her nose to his.

"Welcome, RainPaw! I'm MiraclePaw."

She smiled.

Moonpaw bowed her head in greeting, "May StarClan light your path." she said. "Its good to see a new apprentice, it means the clans are strong."

Rainpaw blinked in surprise at Miraclepaw's gesture, twitching and wrinkling his nose afterwards. Too his gruff, outer attitude, the burst of friendliness and warmth was very different. He nodded to both she-cats, observing that Moonpaw was a little more mellow than Miraclepaw. He gave a faint smile as he greeted them back out of courtesy and not to embarass his mentor. "Hello." He said quietly, not really sounding to excited. Excited wouldn't explain his emotions. He was curious about how Starclan would explain choosing him.

MiraclePaw's ears flickered, and took a step back. She felt as if she made the tom uncomfortable.

"Sorry.. didn't mean to make you.. uncomfortable."

Her head went down, her gaze now on the ground. She shook her head, and then smiled at him.

"What made you want to be a Medicine Cat Apprentice?"

She wanted to get on a subject, to actually meet him, to know him.

She liked knowing everybody, it was her inner job.

"Yeah! For me-It was the fact that you help your clan-mates like no other cat can. Thats what drew me in. Whitetiger is a good medicine cat." She said, a smile on her face.

Rainpaw shook his head, about to explain that he was just surprised, not that he was uncomfortable...Then she asked that question. His lips formed a tight, thin line and his ears flattened slightly. The fur on the back of his neck bristled and his eyes darkened as he looked away from them. "I don't want to talk about it." He said flatly, not wanting to get on that subject.

Moonpaw looked away slightly hurt, "Oh... well Ok." she said quietly. "So what have you learned so far?" she asked, a little more cheerful.

Rainpaw thought a minute on how to respond. He hadn't learned much, because...."I had to focus on my injury healing, I haven't had a chance to leard anything..." He murmured in embarrassment, glancing up to her then looking back away.

Seeing the awkward look in Rainpaw's eyes, Dappledfrost stepped up beside her apprentice. "That's true, but he really seems to have a great memory for herbs, and could probably be a fast learner," she mewed, then looked up at the moon. It was nearing its peak. She looked back at the two other apprentices. "Are your mentors coming?" she asked, a bit nervous as to why the apprentices were alone.

Moonpaw looked nervously behind her, "I hope so. Whitetiger told me to go on ahead... I think... I haven't seen him since I left camp."
