New Light

Dappledfrost padded in the direction of Mothermouth, glancing up at the half-moon. It was drawing closer to the sky with each breath, it seemed, but there was plenty of time left.

As she reached the entrance to the cave, she sat down and waited. This was going to be an important meeting for ThunderClan for one reason at least. The medicine cat looked back for her apprentice, Rainpaw, while wondering what else StarClan would show them.

New Day

MiracleFur made her way to mothermouth, her ears flat against her head. Her fur prickled with tension and unease, not sure how to confront Starclan. There was too many confusing things right now.

She sat near DappledFrost, her scent being mixed with fear and tension.

"Hello DappledFrost, how are you?"

Dappledfrost dipped her head in welcome. "Greetings, Miraclefur. I am well. StarClan has treated ThunderClan well." She glanced up at the other medicine cat. "And I wish I could say the same for you, but you look troubled. How is RiverClan fairing?"

Moonspirit rushed over, she nodded and smiled. "Hey Miriclefur, Dappledfrost!" she said cheerfully.

MiracleFur's ears were still flat against her head. A weird breathing coming from her body. So much was going on.

"I'm glad ThunderClan is well. I hope the others are.."

She looked at DappledFrost, glad that no other medicine cat was here yet. She trusted her more than any other cat.

"I know you won't tell.. FireStar is.. expecting.. I'm so confused.."

Of course, MoonSpirit came rushing over, which made her say it. She hoped that she was going too fast to hear.

Dappledfrost's eyes widened as she heard, but stayed silent. She guessed Moonspirit hadn't been meant to hear that piece of information. She spoke uneasily. "Yes, I see. But you'll be fine; keep a good supply of marigold and that apprentice should be just fine." Her eyes gleamed with a silent message as she spoke, glancing over to Moonspirit once.

What We Fear Inside

She nodded, and smiled.

"Thank you, I'm sure that will help."

She purred, and looked at MoonSpirit.

"Better, well... The apprentice is awake. But she has a dreadful case of Greencough. And I can't fine any decent Catmint for her!" she sighed.

Dappledfrost pricked her ears. One bad thing had lead to another. "Oh, dear. I have some spare catmint in my storage, so I can get you some. But if ThunderClan gets greencough, I wouldn't have enough to cure them. My supply hasn't grown back yet."

The medicine cat's ear folded back in sympathy. "Oh. That's strange. Don't worry, I'm sure I can spare some. Maybe you could meet me at the boarder tomorrow?"

Dappledfrost twitched her whiskers. "Alright then. You know best." She glanced up at the moon again, knowing they didn't have all night. But the rest of the medicine cats, including her own apprentice, had yet to arrive. You'd think he'd be the first one here. It's a very special night for him.

"Hmm..." she thought, "I don't think it is poofing, but maybe StarClan will tell you tonight." she said.

"S-sorry I'm late!" Speaking of Rainpaw, his voice suddenly sounded as he skidded to a stop beside his mentor. It was a good thing he was losing his apprentice name soon. Though he had been a small apprentice, he had grown stronger and bigger since. He was bigger than the three she-cats that were already there and he was well toned and strong from still practicing some warrior moves. He also had learned to run, even with his handicapped back leg. It made his gait awkward and choppy, not really fast but if he pushed hard enough it would not hinder him. He looked more like a warrior than a medicine cat to anyone who didn't know of his injury. His eyes were bright with anticipation for the night, having waited for it anxiously. Finally some answers and his full name! He dipped his head respectively to Moonspirit and Miraclefur. "Hey Moonspirit, Miraclefur."
