Patchedfoot felt bad about embarrassing Spottedpaw it had after all been just a kits game. But she couldn't bring herself to say it. Kits game or not she had almost died of fright.

It was then when Ashkit realized just how alone she was. She didn't have any mother, so the nursery really wasn't for her. She wasn't an apprentice, so that was out of the question and she wasn't a warrior either. She would just have to figure out her own accomodations for the time being. She padded to a rock with an opening, where water had eroded it out. She started collecting things for a nest, lining it and circling in a couple of times before laying down with a sigh.

Patchedfoot watched the small little kit gathering a nest for herself. Had she not been clear? She had to admire the kits strength and readiness to take care of itself. "What do you think your doing Ashkit?" She asked nicely.

Ashkit looked up. Making a nest. I don't really belong anywhere in here. I'm not an apprentice so I can't go sleep there. I'm not a Warrior so I don't exactly belong in there, and my mom is gone so I wouldn't really fit in at the nursery. I'm kinda a misfit. She gave her a brief smile.

Patchedfoot smiled back. "You know that These kits dont have a mother either. Thats why I adopted them as my own. If you want You can be my kit too." She said kindly with a smile on her face welcoming the kit to her mismatch family. "We can all misfit together." She joked.

Ashkit smiled at her, a sad but somehow happy smile. That'd be great. She said. Her voice was soft but it was obvious she was excited.

"Its settled then, come here Ashkit" She purred and was ready to bring the kit with her and the others.

Ashkit got up and padded over to her on black paws. Her smokey gray, black tipped tail flicked back and forth as she sat down. It looked as though she had been a smokey grey kit to begin with and had had her paws and tail dipped in ashes.

The gray cat could've passed as the kits mother already with her long gray fur and white patches. Her bright green eyes gave it away. She leaned over and licked the kits forehead. "Welcome to the family." She purred and then she turned to go tell the clan leader. "I have to go let Swiftstar know and then I will be back in time for dinner!" She said gleefully.

Ashkit nodded and padded to the nursery, content to go take a nap before dinner. She was pretty tired, having played all day and was hungry too.

Wavesong had just padded in from hunting, his coat was dripping and his ears were laid back. It was obvious he wasn't the happiest cat right now. He was heading towards the warriors den when he heard talking inside the nursery, Patchedfoot and what sounded like a new kit. Sighing he changed course and padded over to the nursery, stopping just outside the entrance, he didn't want to get the inside wet. "What's happening in here Patchedfoot?"

Patchedfoots smile vanished. "What happened to you Wavesong?" She wanted to know why he was soaking wet. "Have you been fishing?" She was curious.

Wavesong shook his head. "Naw, just slipped, got carried downstream aways but it's fine. Now tell me, who's this kit?" He stared at the little kit, she looked remarkably like Patchefoot.

"Once you've got some food in you I'm sure you'll feel better." She nodded to the deputy. "I just gave birth right now and thats my kit!" She joked being overly sarcastic. Flicking her tails at the kits rushing torwards the den. "That is Ashkit, Swiftkit, Smallkit, and Swankit." She said naming off her newly-adopted kits. "They are my kits now.

Wavesong chuckled slightly playing along. "Okay so who's the father?" Nodding slightly to the kits he smiled gently. "Nice to meet you young ones. I'm Wavesong, deputy of Windclan."
