Badgerpaw opened his eyes sleepily before they flew open. He would have scrambled to his paws, but he now recalled his injured paw. How did I get in here? Ow, my head.. Did I hit it? He noticed Moonpaw laying there next to him, and an odd feeling fluttered in his belly. What happened? Peering outside the den, the sky was dark. The large apprentice gently prodded his friend. "Hey, Moonpaw? You awake?"

Moonpaw woke suddenly, "What! Oh, you're awake..... I was just staying here in case you needed me tonight. Your paw is sprained so you might need some help doing things you normally do." she got up and stretched. "Do you need anything, poppy seeds, water, fresh-kill?"

"No, I think I'm good." He stretched out his legs while laying on his flank. "But it's weird. I don't remember what happened after I came back to camp." Bagerpaw looked up at her. "Did I fall?"

... yes you fell She thought to herself. "Not really... Well, you did, I had to drag you to your nest. But you'll be fine!"

Badgerpaw frowned. Something was different. Maybe it was him, or maybe it was Moonpaw, but it was as if he had said something he shouldn't have. "Okay, but I still feel weird. Did I do something? Are you alright?"

"It is probably the poppy seeds. They can make people drowsy." she said, almost a sad note in her voice.

Badgerpaw's ears folded back, looking hurt. "Moonpaw, what is it? I know something's wrong. Please, tell me! Did I hurt you feelings? Did I hit you on accident?" He rubbed against her cheek. "You know I wouldn't hurt you on purpose."

Moonpaw smiled "no, you didn't hurt me Badgerpaw." she said.

"Okay, then tell me what really happened. Otherwise I'll sit here and bug you about it all day." Badgerpaw settled in his nest and sat up tall, looking at his friend with a mixture of worry and determination in his amber eyes. "And you know I can do that pretty well."

"Nothing happened, we chatted and then I gave yo somw poppy seeds, you fell asleep right after. I applied some poultice to your wounds, they were not that bad so I didn't bother using cobweb." She flicked her tail and smiled.

Badgerpaw sighed and shuffled his paws. She's not gunna tell me. He looked up at Moonpaw, unsure of what he was going to do next. So he didn't think. The black and white apprentice got up from his nest and padded closer to her and looked her in the eye. Then he licked her cheek with a different intention than earlier. He purred softly, waiting for some sort of response. It was the only way to know.

Moonpaw couldn't resist, she rubbed her cheek against him, purring softly.

Badgerpaw returned the motion, purring a tad bit louder. "Moonpaw, I really care about you. So whatever I did when I was out, I'm sorry. I just wanted to know if you felt the same way. I don't think I noticed how I felt before. I just thought of you as a friend. But you're so much more than that. I'm sorry," he added, knowing her position. But he couldn't find the way to care.

Moonpaw licked his shoulder, "You didn't do anything you aren't doing now."
