Kits. What to do with them...(Moonshadow, open)

MoonShadow looked over at MossFlower, and sighed. She looked at the ground, feeling as if this is mostly her fault, crouching low on the ground. She stared at her, her own ears flickering.

"Don't blame the kit.. Don't glare at her, for no reason!"

Her ears started to drop, as she rose from the ground. She padded over to her, and sighed.

"Come now, kits say things.. don't take it personally. And I do not see why you glared at me!"

Her ears flattened against her head slightly, her gaze shifting to the kit.

Mossflower flicked her ears at Moonshadow. She lifted her nose and turned away from Moonshadow. She lay down and stared at the sky, her tail tip twitching. It was clear she was disappointed with her kit.

Ivykit stayed close to the ground, her belly brushing the grass. She frowned and felt ashamed. She mewled quietly.

MoonShadow glared at MossFlower.

"You don't have to be so rude to your own kit. I will allow you to be rude to me, but not to an innocent kit!"

Her tail lashed back and forth, padding over to the kit. She sat down next to her, her black, fluffy tail curling up around her. She was trying to comfort Ivykit, for the kit's actions were not her own fault.

Mossflower's face broke out in sadness. She rested her head on her paws and meowed, "My own kit hates me." She frowned and looked around the camp. She spotted Moonshadow curling her tail around Ivykit. "What have I done? She likes Moonshadow more than me." She looked at her paws.

Her own ears flickered, hearing what MossFlower was saying. Ivykit did not hate her, for she was just messing around. MoonShadow understood why, since MossFlower has been acting.. depressed.

She casted her glance over at MossFlower.

"Your kit does not hate you, and does not like me better than you."

She looked at Ivykit.

"Right?"

Ivykit stood. Mossflower raised her head. "Uhh...right." Ivykit replied. Mossflower moaned and put her head back on her paws. She turned her head away and looked around the camp once more.

MoonShadow sighed, looking at her white paws.

This is all my fault...

Her eyes were closed, her tail now swishing back and forth behind her.

"Sorry."

Ivykit began pouncing on Moonshadow's tail as it swished back and forth. She smiled and laughed, but once she looked at her mother she felt bad and stopped. She slowly crept over and meowed, "I do love you, Mossflower, I really do." Mossflower closed her eyes and replied, "How am I supposed to believe you?"

MoonShadow winced, while her tail was being pounced on. She looked over at Mossflower, and looked at her paws.

"How can you not..? She is your own kit.."

Her eyes looked over at Mossflower.

"It'd be heartless.. if a kit would hate their mother.. That isn't right! She loves you, and you should know that! MossFlower, I envy you, with you having a kit who actually adores you.."

She shook her head, and sighed.

Mossflower looked at Moonshadow for a second. "I don't know. Ivykit, who do you like more, Moonshadow or me?" she asked, looking at her kit. Ivykit looked at both she-cats. "Uhh...I-I don't-t know," the kit replied. Mossflower felt like a hundred thorns had been speared into her heart. Her kit didn't choose her over a cat she only met a couple minutes ago.

MoonShadow growled, it being rather loud. She stared at MossFlower, her tail swishing side to side angerily.

"Mossflower! How dare you make a kit decide at this age! How can she actually decide who she loves more? She clearly loves everyone the same!"

Her eyes narrowed.

Ivykit stared at Moonshadow and backed up a bit. She felt torn between the two cats. She didn't know who she liked more. She crouched by her mother. Mossflower stared in surprise at Moonshadow. In such a painful time for Mossflower, why did Moonshadow even dare to say something like that? Even more sadness spread on Mossflower's face as Moonshadow told her off. Mossflower looked away, and Ivykit scampered over to where she could see her face. "It's alright, Mossflower." Ivykit kept murmuring.

MoonShadow paced back and forth, her tail swishing side to side, frustrated. She murmured under her breath, for only things that she could hear herself. She felt.. ashamed, sadness, anger, and jealousy.

How could she make a kit feel so torn! How dare she make it decide on it's own!

She tended to growl time to time, her pace seemed to get faster, with her paws hitting the ground hard, blood starting to sting her paws, since she was starting to make them cracked since of how hard she was making them hit.

Ivykit looked up at Moonshadow, her eyes full of sadness. Mossflower looked at Ivykit, her eyes the same. Ivykit's gaze returned to her mother and they stared at each other. Ivykit leaned in to Mossflower's ear and whispered, "Of course I like you better, Mossflower. The question was just so sudden I didn't know what to answer." Mossflower cheered up a bit and smiled at her kit.

MoonShadow had paused, calming down a bit. She shut her eyes, which seemed rather tight. She felt bad, that she had even flared. Yes, it was true, she was easily angered, but it gave her no right what so ever.

She sighed, and licked her flank. She ignored what she had heard, knowing that it was true either way. She just wished she had kits of her own, which she thought would never happen.
