Shadowheart watched as her kits run from the den and start playing. They looked happy, all but Tears. She sighed, it was unfortunate of his grudge against clan life. Fangkit was watching from a distance too,

Heartkit was jumping on a leaf, crumpling it into tiny fragments.

Flaringmist sat quietly, eyes narrowed in thought. There were multiple kits in the Clan now - maybe he should get to know them? The golden brown tom looked at the kits playing, stifling a purr of amusement as one of them jumped on a leaf. Maybe I should play with them, he mused, watching them. A chill wind blew over his back, making up his mind. It was far too cold to sit there. He might as well get warm.
Flaringmist stood up and padded towards the family, giving a mrrow of greeting.

Shadowheart murmered a greeting, she was very much used to cats she didn't know saying hi and playing with her kits. She watched them drowsily, enjoying the smell of pines that she didn't think would ever smell like her old forest.

Heartkit smiled, she then turned to a new leaf and jumped on it, somersaulting while biting it.

Flaringmist gave a purr of amusement. "The leaf didn't see you coming!" he called to Heartkit, before turning to Shadowheart. "They're good kits," he said awkwardly, shuffling his paws and wishing he was more at ease around young cats.

Flora sat kinda behind ShadowHeart. She still didn't get her name, which didn't bother her. She could wait. She watched the other kits playing, her ears pinning back against her head.

She still didn't feel comfortable, something was missing...



Dirtfur padded over, and sniffed ShadowHeart.

"..Hey."

He murmured, his ears flickering at FlaringMist.

Shadowheart smiled at Flaringmist, "Thank you..." Then she turned to Dirtfur, Shadowheart looked up and him, she looked at her paws for a heartbeat then looked back. "Hi Dirtfur."

Flaringmist flattened one ear awkwardly. "Hello, Dirfur," he meowed. He turned back to Heartkit, nudging another leaf towards her. "Try clawing and biting at it at the same time, little warrior," he purred, feeling slightly more comfortable than he had when he first come over.

Heartkit scooped it up in the air and batted at it, biting it at the some time. It fell into small fragments "Wow! Cool! Thanks Flaringmist!"

Flaringmist gave a brief purr and gave her a lick on the top of her head. "Well done!" He moved away swiftly, feeling awkward again. But he couldn't brush away the feeling that washed over him as he gave the kit the advice. Maybe kits aren't so bad after all.

DirtFur's ears drooped a bit when ShadowHeart looked away. He glanced away, his tail tip twitching.

Shadowheart shook her head, "No, you can stay if you like." she said. Her head was still spinning but everything seemed clearer when he was around. The sound of his voice, his eyes, the feeling of his fur was all calming and soothing.

Shadowheart looked at him, "I don't hate you Dirtfur. Please sit. We are friends right?" she mewed. Her tail was wrapped around her as she watched him, her eyes studying him almost. Her heart ponded in her chest and she tried to remain Cool, calm and collective.

Leafheart emerged from the nursery needing some sun. She plopped down close to Shadowheart and let the sunlight soak into her fur. She nestled Lavenderkit and Spotkit close to her as she watched the bigger kits play. She saw them bite and claw and pulled her dear little babies close.

Lavanderkit squirmed in the sunlight cuddling close to the warmth of her mothers belly. She suckled gently as she thought of warmth and milk.

Shadowheart looked over towards her friend Leafheart. She had noticed her and Tigerfang, Leafheart knew how she felt about Tigerfang but she would let it happen. She saw how they were together, and that was just fine. She turned back to Dirtfur, she smiled weakly and put her head on her paws, watching her playful kits.
