She wasn't expecting the Thunderclan brute to dart towards the cats she was trying to distract him from. Crystallight was halfway across the stepping stones when the enemy tom reached her and Freud. If they ended up back in the river, she knew she wouldn't be able to catch up to them again. It was painfully obvious that the Thunderclan tom meant to do harm, and she couldn't let that happen.

Mossflower hissed furiously and flung herself at Scarshadow, leaping up and aiming to land on his back. She attempted to sink her claws into anything she could reach, biting at his shoulders and ears, doing anything she could to deter him, and distract him again. "Back off!" She snarled, desperately doing her best to keep him busy and give the others a chance to get away.

She aimed another blow at his face, before leaping off of his back before he could roll and crush her under his bulk. She landed to the side, and maneuvered herself so she was blocking his path. "Leave them alone, fox-breath!" Mossflower spat, crouching down defensively, getting ready to spring in defense or attack, depending on the move her opponent would make. Behind her, she could hear the soft sounds of pawsteps on the rocks that lead across the river to safety. As soon as they were over the stepping stones, she too would follow, but she had to make sure Crystallight and Freud got away.

Scarshadow did stop, being flung off of course. He didn't expect it to happen oh so quickly, so since of that, he did let go rather easily. He didn't expect her to be protecting a non-clan born cat either, let alone a loner to add it all up.

"Such a soft RiverClanner."

He mocked, while he slowly prowled over, standing up straight on all fours. His amber eyes were traveling MossFlower's sleek coat, looking for an easy way of getting to the stepping stones, maybe in a way that she wouldn't expect.

She was in a defense position, which could make this harder. But, ah, how she crouched, it looked as if her hind legs were bunche dup, ready to spring, instead of dash. That is where his bright mind popped in, although, he might not be able to pull it off, depending on how he timed this exactly.

He crouched down low, making sure his butt was in the air, to look as if he would spring.

"Why protect a non-clanborn cat, and a Loner? Seems unlogical to me.. She even broke the warrior code, giving this loner food, instead of running him away, chasing him."

He growled, with a hint of a mocking tone inside of his words. Then he made a run for her, making sure his hind legs bunched up when he gave 5 feet away from her, looking like he would spring.

If MossFlower went to jump at him, then he wouldn't of leapt at her, he would of dashed under her and go straight for the cats on the stepping stones.

Crystallight screamed when she saw Scarshadow lunge for her, her back legs slipped off once more, but her claws grasped on the rock and she pulled her legs up, "No, you don't!!" she growled to herself, standing again. She then ran for land, she laid down on the ground, panting heavily.
