Starpaw flicked his tail slightly. The young tom wasn't exactly a kit, nor was he a young adult. He was in that inbetween stage but he was still a bit on the small size.

The tom smiled down at him, sitting down beside him.

"StarPaw, you have your whole life ahead of ya. Believe this old tom."

He laughed a bit.

"Don't need to fret with the warrior ceremony'. Ya'll be back in ShadowClan in no time at 'all."

"I miss her pretty bad too. I miss the kits too."

The young tom said, flicking his tail, looking at the older tom. He had a look of indecision on his face. He wanted to wriggle and fret and worry but he maintained a calm composure.

"The bad part is, that no matter how bad I wanna be back in Shadowclan, I don't wanna leave everyone here. And if the two ever came to war, I don't know if I'd be able to fight with a clean consciouness. Ugh. This is too hard."

Tanglestar spotted Starpaw and walked over to him. "Well, Well, Well Starpaw you will be a warrior in no time. I would like to talk to you about that if I may?", she asked a little timid. Starpaw was ready to be a warrior now but she knew that he had mixed feeling's about where he belonged. She didn't want him to have to choose quite yet for she feared he would choose to go back to Shadowclan.

Starpaw looked up as Tanglestar came over to him.

"Uhm. Sure."

He said, getting up to follow her. His curiosity was piqued and he was slightly cautious about it all.

The old tom nodded to StarPaw.

"I can understand that."

He purred, although it was a bit ragged cause of his age.

When TangleStar came by, he stopped purring and stared at her. She seemed a bit timid and edgy about this whole StarPaw thing. Sure, everyone was, but why was she so.. anxious?

His large flaps called ears flicked a bit.

Tanglestar looked around nervously. "You will be made warrior soon and I need to know where you lie. If you choose to go back to Shadowclan now but if you would like to stay here then we will be glad to have you. You are ready to be a warrior now but I am not sure if I would like our techniques to travel back to an enemy clan...", she said a little ashamed of herself.

Starpaw nodded in understanding.

"I completely understand you position on this Tanglestar. For right now I only wish to go back and see my family for a little while. Instead of choosing sides in this I think it would be far wiser to be an ambassador of sorts between the two clans. That way should the two ever get into a fight or something I wouldn't be in such a position as having to choose between the two sides or have to fight with members of the two clans I consider my family."

Starpaw explained, flicking his tail. He shuffled his paws uneasily, scuffling the dirt beneath them.

"Perhaps I could just make a den for myself on the border of the two clans and just stay with each clan for a little while."

Tanglestar sighed hoping it wouldn't have to come to this. "If you cannot choose then I suggest once you get your warrior name you leave. We can't have an extra cat eating our prey in the leaf-bare when he is not a full member of our clan.", she sighed never wanting to take a cats free will from them.

"I understand. Just don't be surprised if you wake up one morning to find your freshkill pile curiously full. I won't be able to choose sides on this but I do want to help each clan to the best of my abilities."

Starpaw said with a small sigh.

"I understand that you must put the good of the clan before the good of one individual, and that with my not being a complete member of the clan you can't be expected to support me when my loyalties lie between two groups that I consider my family."

"The best way to help the clans is to pick where your allegiances lie. You are going to end up hurting someone in the end when you don't side with us or them in any dispute.", she sighed it must be hard for him but the welfare of her clan before the welfare of Starpaw.

Starpaw nodded. "But while choosing sides, I also end up hurting someone. and if I choose to side with Riverclan or Windclan, I hurt all four clans. I don't know what my purpose in the clans is. Perhaps just to be a loner ambassador, maybe to do something great. Maybe nothing at all. Only Starclan knows." Starpaw said. He spoke like a cat that was older than the oldest elder. For one so young, he knew alot about the world.

Sunflash watched from a distance, his whiskers twitching as he heard Starpaw's comments. He didn't like the sound of them any more than Tanglestar did, but the young tom seemed set in his decision. He knew, when it all came down to it, he would fight ShadowClan for the apprentice if that was what it took. The golden tom wasn't close to the apprentice, but he knew that he would go live with two-legs before letting ShadowClan have an apprentice that ThunderClan had trained.

The old warrior KestralSpot couldn't help but follow in behind. Of course, he was barely noticed, since he was kept quiet. He finally had time to speak, his "CowBoy" accent taking over this old tom's voice.

"Ya'll, I don't like hearing an apprentice leaving over to ShadowClan either, but listen."

He looked at StarPaw, and gave a blink. It was in a calm way, his tail tip raising to his shoulder.

"This kit, no, This Tom has family back at ol' Shadowclan. He has a ma, and four siblin's. I would ratha have this tom join ShadowClan, than stay her'. Why?"

He smiled.

"Because, he has no real fam' her'. He has a lot of fam' back at ShadowClan, where he belongs. He don't belong her'. Don't ya see that? Come now, don't tell me, this old tom, that you don't believe that."

He grinned down at StarPaw, then looked back at TangleStar.

Starpaw looked at Kestralspot. "The funny thing is I'm not even related to any of them by blood. My 'mamma' and my siblings aren't even really family. Runningpath took me in when nobody else would, even knowing she was expecting kits of her own."

Starpaw said, looking between the two. "And when she did have her kits I helped her look after them till I had to come to Thunderclan. I miss the kits. They looked up to me. They made me feel important. Because when I'm gone, it won't matter how great of a warrior I was. What'll matter is what role I played in the life of another cat."

Starpaw sighed, shaking his head. "But it's pointless isn't it? I know you won't let me leave. You'll fight to keep me here. So will Sunflash and someothers because you don't want me teaching the other clans about what you taught me. I guess I might as well just stop pleading my case and just go be good little warrior."
