Welcome to Clan Cats of the Forest: FACTION! We are a literate original character
Warriors RPG. We welcome members of all ages and have a great time here at CCOTF. With friendly staff and an intriguing plot we have nowhere to go but up. Hope to see you around!
Coonpaw blinked and gave a soft nod. He was still being rather slow, but fast at the same time. That is one thing that was rather great with him, probably got it from CowSpot himself, or maybe the other tom who held his own mother as well. To tell the truth, it probably just sprouted there.
"Sure. Let's go with individual, unless you want to keep track with the clan matters."
He said respectfully. He really didn't care, for he just wanted to learn weaknesses and advantages. It was one of the most important keys of being great, to know weaknesses and advantages, and he knew it.
The golden tabby flicked his tail. "Alright, then. We'll start with size. Now, a cat your age is significantly smaller than a full grown warrior, obviously. You can use this to your advantage."
Sunflash lowered to the ground as if to pounce. "This goes back to what you suggested earlier, with smaller cats being faster. While that's not entirely true, it is true that you can evade better. Your smaller size in harder to hit for a larger cat my size. You'll have more time to get out of the way."
When SunFlash crouched low, as if to pounce, the black and white tom couldn't help but do the same. He figured SunFlash was going to teach him how to fight now, since of the position.
His ears were pricked up, listening, while his green eyes stared at the golden tom. CoonPaw couldn't help but smirk, hoping that he would be able to avoid the tom, if he did come at him. He didn't want to disappoint him nor did he want to disappoint himself.
The warrior's amber eyes narrowed as he watched his apprentice drop into a crouch as well. It was clear what he was expecting. Very well, then. Sunflash tensed his muscles, then flung himself at Coonpaw with paws outstretched but claws sheathed. The golden tabby really was aiming to pin him. Soon enough they'd see if his theory could be played out so easily.
The black and white apprentice was waiting for his mentor to make his move. He was waiting patiently and was watching his muscles to see how bunched up they were. Usually, in his theory, if you see how much they bunch, you can determine how high they will jump, or where they move.
So, when he leapt, he rolled over on his back, and moved towards the left. He was still swatted on his shoulder a bit by his golden-tom mentor, but that didn't stop CoonPaw.
He got right back up, and kept in a crouch, with the tip of his tail twitching.
Sunflash landed a little ways behind his apprentice softly and on all fours. That went well, he observed, then turned back toward his apprentice with a smile. "That was well executed. I got you a bit with my paw near the end there, which wouldn't have gone well if I had unsheathed my claws, but still good for starting out."
The warrior shook out his golden tabby pelt. "Remember that your goal is to stay completely out of your opponent's reach. That's not always possible, but that should always be on your mind."
The black and white tom grinned with pleasure. He knew he wouldn't disappoint his mentor nor himself; he felt it run through his coarse veins.
He was on all fours now, not like he wasn't before, but more straight, for he couldn't help but puff out his chest. He grinned wildly, and couldn't help but give a chuckle.
"I figured that, Sunflash. Sorry, but it's kinda obvious!"
He laughed at that, and went in a crouch. Now it was his turn; he was going to show his attack.
He didn't know where, but he just stared at his mentor with eager eyes.
Sunflash raised a brow and blinked. "You'd be surprised how such a simple thing can be so hard to do. You'll have to keep it in mind while also balencing it with your offence." Simply put things rarely came so easilly to one when the time came for a real battle where claws and fangs were aimed to score across your pelt. The golden tabby then smirked a little when Coonpaw dropped into the familiar position and did the same. "And just what do you think you're doing?"
This tom purred with delight, while his eyes kept scanning around. He was staring exactly at SunFlash, trying to remember what he once did.
That's right.. All he did was fling himself at me. Maybe I should twist it to where, I fling myself at the last minute? How would that turn out?
His left ear flicked, and then thought still.
But where at? Maybe just aim at shoulders. No. That's too obvious. Maybe I'll fling myself at him, hoping that he would move. And by what I think, he would jump, if I just ran. So, therefore, I should leap upwards as well, to try to push him down.. Yes. That's what I'll do!
He always thought before doing. Except when he's talking. So, what he did, was bolted right towards Sunflash, his eyes ablaze. Oh, this would be entertaining.
If SunFlash did leap up in the air, Coonpaw would most likely do the same, flinging himself in his mentor's chest, trying to push him down.
If SunFlash did not, then he would of leaped anyways, trying to aim at the tom's shoulder-blades.
Sunflash could see the wheels turning in the younger tom's head, contemplating his next move. That was good, a sign of a promising future warrior. But thinking too long could be a disadvantage on the field of combat. That would come later, though, with time and practice.
Suddenly the apprentice charged straight for him. Typical, he thought with a quick twitch of his whiskers, before not leaping, but rolling to the side, quickly getting back to his paws, and jolting forward enough to heat-butt Coonpaw in the flank.
That, he didn't even suspect. So, since he had it in his head, and the rolling wasn't what he planned, he leaped anyway. But when he landed, he had a headbutt go right in his flank.
The tom eep'd, only mostly of surprise, and fell back. He just laid there, not moving. He was mostly still in shock of all of this.
Sunflash had expected the lively apprentice to get right back up on his paws. But when the black and white tom remained still, a prickle of concern entered his mind. Had he been too rough? Was the apprentice injured? No, that couldn't be it. It had just been a training blow, nothing severe.
The warrior padded over toward the fallen tom, and lightly pawed his flank. "Coonpaw? Are you alright?" His voice was pitched with a bit of concern.
He wanted to bolt up right then, to scare his mentor, but he sensed the pitch of concern.
He wouldn't mind. I don't even think it's allowed.
Just then, he bolted up.
"Surprise!"
He then sat next to his mentor, and gave him a play-ful nudge, purring softly. He hoped it was allowed. He hoped he didn't just mess up. But knowing CoonPaw, he just did.
The senior warrior did start a little when Coonpaw suddenly leapt up from the ground, but an amused smile found a spot on his face. "Ha ha, very funny." He gave the apprentice a little shove with his paw as Coonpaw did the same with his head. True, he'd been worried there for a moment, but that was the younger tom's personality, apparently, and he would have to learn it well.
"Playing dead- a useful tactic. But what do you say we stop here for today? It's getting late, and you'll need your rest if you want to keep up in your training."
