The 'L Word' (Stoneheart, Open)

Bluewillow sat alone in the clearing, she was waiting to see Stoneheart. The moon shone above, making her fur literally glow. She hummed a tune and she shuffled her paws. She had told him her, Goldenfur and himself were going on a 'midnight patrol'.

Stoneheart walked into camp a little grumpy. He was always grumpy it seemed like and the fact that he had to go on the midnight patrol was even worse. He could have used the extra sleep and he was worn out. But his grumpiness vanished when he spotted Bluewillow was among the patrol.

Bluewillow bounded for him, her eyes glistening. "hello love," she mewed, "Come with me," she lead the way not too far from camp to a small clearing, moonlight dappling the ground. "We need to talk, now." she mewed.

Stoneheart's eyes blotched in confusion and happiness. He also wanted to talk to her about something important, that he hoped she was thinking about as well. As far as most cats were concerned Stoneheart wasn't the type of tom to fall in love. Especially not with such a unique cat as Bluewillow. His heart had been stolen away and was now kept in Bluewillow's very soul. He had this feeling that was about him. Sometimes he could smother it easily with thoughts of clan life and others more likely when he was near Bluewillow he could not. He had never felt it so strong as the present and his love for her overwhelmed his whole body and mind.

She pressed into him, her fur brushing his. "I love you, so so so much. I want to know we are in the same place. That you really do love me..." she mewed, licking his cheek.

"Would I ever say anything that I didn't mean.", he purred leaning back up against her to even out the balance. It was true when would he ever say something he didn't mean. That was lieing and he would never want to lie to Bluewillow. "You know that I love you!", he smiled licking her shoulder.

"Stoneheart... I'm pregnant." she mewed, pressing into his fur. She was glad he loved her but his reaction now would base their future and the future of their kits. Her belly was already swelling with kits and she remembered Stoneheart had not wanted them to have kits before. "Your, you gonna be a father..." Her eyes met his, looking into his eyes and her fur prickled with the tension hanging in the air waiting for his response.

Stoneheart's eyes furrowed in confusion and curiosity. He had just gotten back. He had just told her that he loved her. But how could she be pregnant? It couldn't be possible, or could it? He layed down trying to calm his breathing. Sure he hadn't wanted kits but wasn't a little to far down the road to say he still didn't want them. He didn't want to hurt Bluewillow's feelings telling her he didn't want kits but part of him was saying that he had made a mistake.

Bluewillow laid beside him, a puzzled expression on her face. "Stoneheart?" she mewed, hoping for some sort of response. She nuzzled his neck, purring gentility. "You are going to be a great father, I know you will." she licked his cheek and rested her head on his paws.

"How did this happen?", was all that he managed to choke out. How could he be a father?!? He wasn't even sure how this whole dad thing worked. He couldn't be a father or at least a good one. They would have to make due without him because no father was better than a horrible one. right? He didn't have the temper for kits or even the stamina. How could these be his kits when he had never done anything to want or deserve this.

Bluewillow turned away, he didn't love her. How could he not love her?! If he did he would be happy. She got up and padded over to the other side of the clearing, tears dripping from her face silently and her face turned away from them, "Well its not like they are anyone else's but yours Stoneheart!" she mewed, clearly upset.

Stoneheart felt pain in his chest when Bluewillow turned away from him. He had actually come here to talk to her about having kits, but now she was pregnant, and so soon. It wasn't that he didn't love her, he really did, but her being pregnant so heavily so early was a shock to him. She quickly trotted over to her and licked her belly. "I will always love you.", he purred presssing against her.

Blueheart pressed into him, "Sometimes it is hard to see that..." she mewed quietly. "But I know you do, and I know that kits weren't what you REALLY wanted. But, they always say a mother is always a mother but a father will never be a father till' he sees his kits..." Bluewillow mewed.
