I hope I made it in time. I hope FlightWhisker made it here in time. I hope BatWing comes in late.
CoonStripe had no idea if he made it earlier than anyone else or not. He hoped so. He was wishing.
He busted into camp with a pant, his tongue lolling out of his mouth. He was going a mile a minute, his heartbeat even faster. At least, he felt like it. He wasn't quite sure.
"TangleStar!" he yowled, "RainWing!"
He made sure it rang through the camp. He was sure hoping FlightWhisker makes it before BatWing does. He hoped he came in faster than BatWing.
CoonStripe was just so worried.
--
CowSpot heard the call rang through his ears. He noticed it was his son-- CoonStripe. What was going on? He wasn't quite sure...
He slowly prowled out of the warrior's den, having no doubts that the others cats would, too. He was just so... confused. Why would anyone yowl through the camp? Especially for TangleStar or RainWing? Was someone hurt? What happened?
CowSpot stared at his son with curious eyes. He was just confused.
Tanglestar emerged from her den when she heard the call from Coonstripe. Curiosity also shined in her eyes and she began to growl, and the tom's expression. He looked worried and threat was something they didn't want right now. She tried to detect an enemy or even strange scent on the tom's pelt trying to find the answer he had not uttered to her unspoken question. She looked to see who was racing behind the tom hearing paw steps, she prepared for fight of some sort, but she could not scent anything new among the cats. "Coonsrtipe, what has happened?", she asked adamant to know what had her warriors so spooked.
CoonStripe tried to catch his breath. It was rather difficult. He ran so fast. So Quickly. Thank god he was smaller than Batwing, or he would probably not of made it.
"B-BatWing!" he panted, and breathed heavily, "Turtlekit!"
He shook his back and forth, so unsure what to even say. Would he be believed.
"TurtleKit got hurt! BatWing hurt her! Tried to kill her!" he was breathing really heavy now, and unsure if it was BatWing behind him, "Tried to kill FlightWhisker and me too!"
He barely held any wounds, but there was blood on a few parts of his body. But not much...
Batwing entered the camp, two mice hanging from his jaws. He had been hunting, after all. Well, at least before Turtlekit came along...
He spotted Coonstripe across the clearing demanding for Tanglestar and Rainwing. Then, he saw Tanglestar emerge. Yes, this was all going to fall right in place.
No matter what Coonstripe did, he couldn't dream of getting Tanglestar to believe him. Many years of lieing does come in handy sometimes...
"What's going on?" he said calmly, in his normal 'this has been a boring day' tone. "Did I miss something here?"
Tanglestar's eyebrows furrowed in confusion and she wasn't sure of what to believe. She looked at the returning Batwing with curiosity wondering if the rumor is true. "Where is Flightwhisker? And why was Turtlekit so far away from camp?", she asked hoping the accusation wasn't true. "Until we get to bottom this neither of you is to leave the camp.", she mewed looking at the entrance hoping to see the little kit come back.
Mousefur emerged from the nursery when she heard her kit's name and she wondered why Coonstripe was so worried. When she heard that he little Turtlekit had been hurt, she began to growl at the two entering toms, savagely. "Where is Turtlekit?", she spit unsheathing her claws, and speaking in a protective tone only a mother knew.
"Of course, Tanglestar," Batwing said, a fake hint of confusion in his voice. He looked at Coonstripe. For a heartbeat, he grinned the same way he had in the forest, but whipped it off as suddenly as he'd smiled. He couldn't have other cats suspicious of him, could he?
Batwing turned to look at Mousefur. "Turtlekit's missing?" the black tom asked, shock filling his voice. "Are there patrols looking for her?" he meowed, looking at Tanglestar.
Quietly, but just loud enough for the other cats in the clearing to hear him. "I hope the poor scrap's okay..."
CoonStripe turned around quickly to look at BatWing. He quickly growled, letting his claws unsheathed.
"You lying piece of..." he turned his head at MouseFur, and let out a hiss, "Batwing here, hurt her! Threw her up in the air, and tried to snap her neck! If I wasn't there, or FlightWhisker, she would be dead!"
CoonStripe wiped his head around to look at the tom, ignoring TangleStar's words, "Tell the truth, or else!"
He hunched downward, to where his butt was in the air. His tail was swishing side to side, letting his ears pin against his head.
--
CowSpot just sat there. He wasn't sure what to do. What did CoonStripe get into? What did Turtlekit get into? What did FlightWhisker get into? What did BATWING get into?
Turtlekit allowed herself to be sat on the ground once Flightwhisker arrived. Her mismatched eyes were wide and she shrank back away from Batwing. She hissed, her little ears flattening against her head. That's when her daddy came along.
--
The big tom arose from the stump he had been sunning himself on at the scent of blood and young Coonstripe's calls. He padded forward, noticing under the metallic scent of blood and heavy cloying scent of garlic there was a more familiar one....Turtlekit...He bolted forward, going to crouch over his young daughter. His tongue was gentle as he groomed her but anger and irritation rolled off his pelt. That's when he heard the accusations. "You no good scrap of fur! I'll kill you!" He snarled at Batwing, his single gold eye narrowing. He would not move from where he crouched over his daughter though, his entire frame looking twice as large from his fur fluffing up. His tail lashed angrilly and he almost launched himself at the tom without a second thought. No one here would be able to stop him from killing Batwing. heck, they were all too small to do much damage. Not strong enough or large enough to throw him off.....
"What are you talking about?" Batwing hissed, crouching down as well. "Why would I want to hurt Turtlekit? I was hunting near the squirrel hollow by myself! Heck, I didn't even know Turtlekit was gone!"
Batwing's eyes widened in shock as Riddlehawk growled at him and he couldn't help but shrink back in fear. It's okay, he tried to convince himself. There's no way they're going to believe Coonstripe over me.
"I swear, I never hurt Turtlekit! Please, believe me!" He waited a few moments for someone to answer before speaking up again. "Fine," he said quietly. "If this is what you must do, do it. But know that after this is all over, I always was innocent..."
He bowed his head as to make it look like he was ready to let Riddlehawk attack. But in all actuality, he was hiding the menacing smirk that was creeping farther across his face...
"Yes, innocent," he said raising his head. "This is foolish. Tanglestar, I have no idea what this tom is rambling about. Why would Turtlekit be afraid of me? I've done nothing wrong to her."
Batwing was making an effort to hold down all of the insults he wanted to throw at Coonstripe. This tom was really aggravating him... And Riddlehawk...
The black tom knew that Riddlehawk was very powerful, but being so big also had it's weaknesses. He would be slow if the deputy did try to attack, and Batwing would use that to his advantage.
I'll be fine, he thought, almost all of the doubt in his mind fading swiftly. Nothing's going to go wrong...
Tanglestar looked from cat to cat, not sure who was telling the truth and who was lying so she looked at the young kit. "Turtlekit, come sit beside me and tell me what happened.", she smiled, pointing to the space next to her. She looked across the faces of the cats again, not wanting to beleive any capable of lying, but no cat was perfect. But she couldn't phase her thoughts when she remembered the sad events when Tigerstar reigned Shadowclan. Why would anyone want to hurt a kit?
Turtlekit leaned on her three good paws, the twisted and broken one dangling above the ground. When it came time to pass by Batwing she made a huge, wide berth, sticking near Flightwhisker and Coonstripe before she got near Tanglestar and finally sat down, wincing hugely in pain. She looked up at her leader, her foreleg hanging above the ground, not willing to set it down.
Tanglestar's eyes narrowed when they saw the paw. and a small growl escaped her lips. "Who did this to you?", she asked sweetly, not wanting the frighten the kit anymore than she already was. She leaned down towards the kit licking her head in encouragement. "You can tell me. No one will harm you here.", she mewed not really prepared for the answer that might come out.
Foxflight heard commotion in the clearing. His amber eyes opened to take in the warrior's den. After a breif stretching while hearing cats yowling at eachother, he slunk into the clearing. What he saw made him confused. Following every cat's eyes, he finally realized what was going on and who the source of commotion was about.
His eyes took in Turtlekit kindly with supressed shock. Someone had done this to her for sure. A bone wouldn't break that way unless a cat had touched it. The poor kit's leg was twisted at such an odd angle no tree fall could have done it.
The tom listened to each voice and realized Batwing was here. He stared at the haunched warrior as Riddlehawk's fur rose. This tom knew more than he was letting on and Foxflight didn't like it one bit. If this was to help the 'cause' then he'd speak to Batwing immediatly. No young cat was going to get hurt, especially a kit.
If Turtlekit couldn't walk correctly due to this Batwing would acquire punishment from the clan and him. Riddlehawk would defiantly be a part of it too. The action was too close to trying to murder a kit that it sickened him.
He sat down and watched with interest as Tanglestar asked Turtlekit what was wrong. Foxflight gave a 'smile' towards the young cat and flicked his tail to show he was supporting her. If any cat tried to stop her from telling, he'd personally take them down with a raking stare or his own claws.
