He dipped his head at her response and quickly grabbed the squirrel and the mouse so Ferncloud didn't have to carry that much weight. Just as he was about to take the first step towards camp, he stopped and listened to what she had to say. Foxflight put down the prey and looked at it for a while. "Well, I guess he did," he said thoughtfully.

His amber gaze turned back towards the she-cat. "Without him, I don't think I'd be the cat I am today. ..... Probably worse I suppose," he trailed. It was a really weird comment she had brought up, but it wasn't like he had such a sad past or anything. Far from it actually, except for that minor mess up, he was a pretty normal cat, not those average day Mary-Sue's in his book.

Would she keep probing? Well, it was only fair to answer any of her questions for she had answered his.

Ferncloud was confused and tried to keep the expression from her face. He didn't look like a bad cat to her, he seemed caring and gentle, but she had never really seen him before now. She wondered what he had been like as an apprentice, and could only see him now. She shook the thought away giving up on imagining him as an evil cat. In her mind he was a good and strong cat who fought for the well-being of his clan. She didn't want to pry any further into his past, not looking for something she didn't want to find. So she picked up the remaining piece of prey and padded towards the camp, glad that her mouth was full so she didn't have to keep talking.

Foxflight strode after the she-cat with a light step to his stride. He felt great around Ferncloud and seemed a little bit happier after letting out his past. The tom really hoped their friendship could work out because honestly, he needed a good friend. The deputy did not count in that aspect at all because it was always serious around him. Carefree was what he needed at the moment.

The thought that Ferncloud might actually figure out what he was later on made him cringe from it. He had to make sure she was safe no matter what. The only ones who would get hurt, if at all, would be the leaders of the clans, not the warriors, queens, apprentices, or kits. They were innocent of the leader's crimes. Deputies were iffy at the moment.

Quickly, he caught up to her and smiled. Putting down his prey, he mewed. "Ferncloud thanks for hunting with me, it really means a lot."

After dropping her mouthful of prey, Ferncloud let a smile gleam through her features, and it felt good to smile. She felt safe, almost protected around this tom, and she enjoyed his company so dearly. She had been stuck in her shell for so long, and he had been able to bring it out after all this time. She gave a gentle headbutt to his shoulder and the mingling of their fur, felt comforting. She felt as if the action had been right. "I am so happy to have you as my friend, you mean alot to me.", she purred gently. It was the truth, the tom meant so much to her, she had never really told him how much before.

Foxflight smiled warmly when Ferncloud butted him. Her fur felt so warm against his own. Yep, they were defiantly friends. He usually would have felt uncomfortable with the action if he hadn't known the cat well enough. Ferncloud was different. It was innocence and openness that penetrated that feeling.

She then told him how happy she was to be friends with him. His heart felt light as he returned the purr. They had only become friends since a few days ago, yet she was the light to his day. "You as well," he mewed. "You're probably the best friend I've had in a long time, Ferncloud."
