(Scarshadow/Foxflight) Curiosity Killed the Cat

It was early- just past dawn. Color was beginning to streak across the sky as the sun rose higher in the sky. The stars had disappeared with the night. And as Sunflash watched all this slowly happened, he found himself having to stifle a yawn as he sat just outside of the ThunderClan camp.

The night before, Scarshadow had told him of a troublesome cat that had taken up residence on ThunderClan territory. Apparently it could easily become a threat. But the matter had been so vague, so strange. It was like the darker warrior had just been throwing him a mouse-tail and hoping he'd follow. But the golden tom shook his head. No, what did Scarshadow have to gain from that? At most, he could only see the other tom standing him up, sleeping in as he stood out here like a mousebrain.

His whiskers twitched as he tried to push the thought away. Even if there was the slightest possibility that there was a problem needed to be dealt with, he had to do something about it. Sunflash wouldn't dare let it hurt any of his Clanmates- or, most importantly, Tanglestar.

Foxflight's eyes peered out of the warrior's den. Sunflash had awoken him and he watched with curiousity. Gathering his thoughts, he understood that Scarshadow was about to make his move.

It was barely dawn, but he knew he could wake the dark tom up quickly. Getting onto his paws, he padded towards Scarshadow's nest, finding out that the tom was gone. A sly smile escaped him.

Foxflight padded to the edge of the den and hid his body from the clearing. Only until he saw Scarshadow would he sneak off. Sunflash would certainly see him right now if he tried to leave. The tom had a back up plan to Scarshadow's. He needed to make sure that the dark tom succedded and didn't kill Sunflash. Foxflight narrowed his eyes and waited.

This tom was always a peculiar one. Especially since he was mostly ShadowClan. What do I mean, you ask. Well, he has a heart of pure black. He isn't ever really sweet, and he didn't care about other clans. He was like a reincarnation of TigerStar. He never wanted to be nice, he never wanted anything to be good or sweet-- he wanted Power.

He would do anything to get that position-- because after TangleStar is out of the picture, he would make sure to get Riddlestar down as well. Ah, how that would be nice... Blood soaked around his paws, with rows of cats bowing down to his presence.

ScarShadow shook his head and slowly prowled out from the place where he was 'hiding'. The same night that he told SunFlash about the rogue-- he made sure to recruit a large hefty tom who was willing to kill a cat. Ah... he told him exactly which old badger set to wait in, and made sure the tom had fresh-kill, and told him about TangleStar, how he wanted to become Leader over the forest, and promised that if this happens, that the tom would get a mighty reward.

Of course, that was a lie. After the large tom fought with SunFlash-- he would attack that tom as well. ScarShadow wasn't stupid. It would be risky having a large rogue around. It would easily try to get the power for himself.

To be honset-- he knew he couldn't take down the tom by himself. This tom was about the same size as RiddleHawk. Ah... then again... no. That would be risky, too. Other cats would scent the tom out so easy...

He shook his head once more, and placed himself right beside SunFlash. He let his ears flick, already suspecting FoxFlight. He knew this before hand-- they didn't trust him at all. Ah. They shouldn't. He wasn't the one to trust.

"Are you ready to go, SunFlash?" he simply mewed, his brown gaze soon traveling to the young tom's face. He was secretly hiding a grin beneath his face structure, which was quite hard to do.. He just wanted to grin like a chesire cat..

As the golden tom had sat there beneath the oak trees and their shadows, he almost thought he had heard something just inside of the camp. Maybe the lightest pawstep. He turned toward the source of the sound, his amber eyes narrowed as they searched for whatever had made it, but finding nothing in the shadows of the early morning. He twitched his whiskers. Perhaps it was a mouse. Or maybe he was just getting paranoid. Either way, it was about a heartbeat after that Scarshadow appeared just beside him.

Sunflash blinked in a hello, though a little unnerved at the dark tom's sudden and stealthy arrival. It couldn't be just that his senses were growing old. This tom was particularly sneaky. "Yes, I'm ready," he mewed gruffly, standing to shake out his pelt, feeling as if dew had gathered on it during his wait. "Let's head out. If we can catch him early in the morning, his senses may not pick up on us coming." The warrior stretched out his legs, then, and looked around. "Now, just where is he?"

Finally, the dark pelt met his gaze and he heard Sunflash get up. Before, the tom had spooked him by looking straight at him. But of course the tom hadn't seen him. If he had, his life would have taken a different, better, turn.

Now, with Sunflash's attention elsewhere, he padded out the back way of Thunderclan. He turned towards the entrance and watched behind a tree and bush as the two began walking. Now he would stalk them both. A sudden breeze hit him and in it he smelt something different. Foxflight turned his gaze in the direction and narrowed his eyes. Nothing came and he didn't smell it again, so he turned back to watch Sunfall and Scarshadow proceed.
