He listened and wasn't too happy with what he heard. In a sense, he was trespassing on sacred ground. All loners somewhat felt the eeriness of the cave and never approached, but knowing exactly what awaited inside just made it that much worse. It wasn't so much the ancestors supposed place of 'talking' that scared him, but the insecurity Spottedstar was feeling about even talking about Mothermouth around him.
Her suggestion to go the night after this one seemed alright, but he didn't see the sense of not going during the gathering. If they did, than they would have no trouble on the way and he wouldn't have to worry about clan cats approaching him menacingly.
Crow stretched his leg out and felt the tendons strain. They weren't used to movement yet, but he could do it. He was tough, maybe tougher than the clan cats thought he was. Good thing he wasn't a kittypet though. They would wail because of the pain for hours and then feel sorry for themselves. It was pathetic! Of course, he knew not all of them were like this and probably any of them would have not even trespassed into clan territory for anything. He just used the kittypet softness to reassure himself that he was fine.
"I'll be ready anytime, Spottedstar," he mewed with unwavering eyes. The words melted off his tongue in a way that made him feel a bit awkward. He thought over how he had said it and anger split his chest. I said it just like I was part of the clans, he hissed inside his mind. He needed to get out of this territory as soon as possible. He didn't want himself to be devoured by the clans, all uniqueness gone and only the urge to act as one. Crow couldn't wait to get to Mothermouth and sort this whole ordeal out. Maybe then he could have a peace of mind along with the leader of Shadowclan.
