His eyes wavered on the edge of the markings He was near the part that smelled mostly of that one cat he'd met from the clans. Pine trees loomed out of the darkness and so did his piercing eyes, so like that of that female clan cat.
Crow's paws itched to step over that border again and get to the bottom of this and even have some company. She'd sparked a new vigor in his life. He did love his loner life, but at times he missed the company.
He'd thought of his past just like he'd promised her and there was something there, a faint smell of milk and voices he couldn't understand. Another presence was with him too, it smelled familiar just like the female's.
What was her name again? Ripplepath, Ruggedpath, Roundypath? He flicked his tail in annoyance. Looking across the border, left and right, he crossed into the Shadowclan territory. He knew it was dangerous, but he needed to get to answers. Was he somehow related to that clan cat? Crow sniffed at that thought. As if she would be related to me! Giving her life to other cats and not realizing how satisfying it is to help yourself.
The she-cat decided she should go out on herself one more time before training her apprentice, she thought it would be swell to get familar with the territory again, just to be sure on things.
The black she-cats paws were softly landing on the ground, and slushing in the muddy swamp. She didn't mind it, she rather loved it, and she hoped her apprentice would too.
Some things were on her mind though, like that tom, Crow. He looked familar, looked like her, smelled familar, and he even acted like her! She felt as if something was missing here, a little puzzle piece, but what could that be?
Then she had it, that scent again. It had a faint trace of milk and... litter mates? Who was her real mother? She didn't exactly know for people told her that her original mother died, and she got adopted by some other queen.
She shook her head, thinking that scent was long gone, padding a bit more towards the border. She scented it again, but ignored it. The thing she didn't realize was that she was following it without knowing it.
She soon realized it when she bumped right into something. RunningPath rose her head, only to see black fur. She squealed.
It seemed not at all difficult to ever cross clan cat borders and he always had to laugh at that fact. They never really patrolled where he entered for who would expect an outside cat coming in and then leaving causing harm...at least that's what he thought to himself in happiness. Clan cats are just so stupid if they don't even do anything about my proceddings unless they see me. I garuntee if anyone was in my teritory I'd track down that cat until we had a one on one talk.
Crow's tail swished back in forth as he walked calmly into the serene forest of pines.
He blinked in utter astonishment as the she-cat he had been coming to see bumped right into him. What luck!
Crow smiled at her squeal. "Yeah, its me again," he said while flicking his tail.
Her paws were itching to chase him off, but to her surprise, she sat down. Her tail neatly curled around her paws, and her eyes were narrowing down into slits.
Why is he here again? And why am I not chasing him off?
She couldn't help but let out a deep growl which soon turned into a soft purr. She felt comfortable around him, like she knew him. But why? It was rather odd, for she never acts like this around any cat, not even when Whispertail was still alive...
"Why are you so familar? Why do you smell so familar?"
She hissed, claws digging into the ground. She was getting more frustrated by the second, even by Crow's little smile. RunningPath spat, "FoxDung!"
Her ears were moving around a lot, but soon flattened against her head, breathing in that milky and familar scent of his.
He looked on as she sat down. Crow could tell that she very badly wanted to swat him with those nasty claws of his and all he could do was smirk.
When she sat down, he looked at her in surprise and even more so when he listened to her until she said foxdung.
Blinking, he replied. "Well first off I'm sure I don't smell like foxdung, second I'd like to ask you the same thing. You smell very familiar and not just because we've met before, but like we should know each other.." He trailed off as he watched her ears twitching insanely. He rolled his eyes at that.
Soon though, his tail was twitching just as much and he sat down on top of it to stop it.
The she-cat bit her tongue to not say anything foul. She was tempted to, that was for certain. This tom was getting on her nerves, not because of how he spoke, but because of his scent and how he looked. It irked her off because he looked exactly like her, and she didn't understand it. She kept thinking that maybe they were related, but she just shook her head at that guess.
"A milky scent you have, but it is rather faint..."
She rather muttered outloud for it was on her mind, she was trying to trigger her memory. She was trying to think on why he would smell like that to her. She felt comfortable, yet she sensed that she wouldn't like him as much but know him so well.
What was going on? Why must this happen?
She noticed his tail twitch a bit, and how he had to sit on it. She couldn't help but let out a slight laugh. Her ears stopped twitching, only the left one barely flickering. She was trying to listen for other cats now, not because of how angry or frustrated she was.
Her claws were now sheathed but her pads seemed to itch. She hated it when that happened, for she wanted Crow gone, but she couldn't seem to move her limbs into doing so.
"How am I supposed to know?"
She hissed, although it seemed as if the hiss was more amusing than angry if you know what I mean by that.
The black she-cat wrinkled her nose, and padded closer. The small blue flecks rippled slowly and with ease. She stopped infront of him, and sniffed the air once more.
"You aren't my brother or kin, are you?"
If she had any eyebrows, one sure would be rising, cause this question kept popping up in her mind. I mean, why else would some other cat smell like milk?
Crow took a step back from the she-cat who was interrogating him. She was way too close now. Didn't clan cats practice personal space?
At her question he just dropped his moth open in bewilderment. It would make sense if that were true, but was it? How could they possibly know for sure?
Stargaze padded out of Shadowclan's camp, towards the edge where his favorite haunt was. The black, white flecked tom moved with a rolling gait, still being unnaturally small. Just the size of your average apprentice. But his grey-green eyes knew more than most cats. After all, he'd been channeled by Starclan on more than one occasion.
Stargaze scented an extremly familiar smell, padding towards it. Runningpath... he thought happily. His adopted mother. He stopped short, the young tom that reeked of Starclan rather confused. Why did Runningpath have a doppleganger??? He flicked his tail, not noticing that the light, lemongrass scent of Starclan might be fanning towards his 'mother' and her doppleganger.
RunningPath was pacing back and forth now, not even paying attention to any scents no longer, she just kept Crow's scent in her mind. He smelt too familar, which was bugging her.
"No. Crow, I know it's true. What else could it mean? I know I've never seen you before in my life!"
She almost screeched, looking right at Crow. Her fur was prickling now, for a familar scent decided to go into her scent glands, but she couldn't tell whom it was. She should of though, her adopted son, but she pushed it aside.
At Runningpath's almost screech he winced and shook his head. "I agree...but is there anything to prove this?" He watched her pacing and his tail actually started to come out and twitch as well as he stood up.
A new scent reached him and his fur puffed up. Another clan cat was nearby and was probably spying on them and maybe decided to hurt him. He took a step towards shelter, but thought better of it. If they wanted a fight then they would get one. His ears layed down and then he hissed towards the scent.
