Spottedstar padded out of her den with slow steps. Although she was doing her best to conceal a troubled look on her face, it was hard to restrain the concern that clouded her eyes. She was about to make the last two apprentices warriors. Not that making warriors was ever a bad thing, but that left both the nursery and the apprentice den completely empty. Any cat could see the problem there. No kits meant a dwindling future for ShadowClan. If a new litter didn't arrive soon, things would look quite grim for her Clan.
The ginger and white she-cat grimaced in the direction of the empty nursery, then leapt up to the Highbranch hanging over her, and yowled out to the Clan, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the Highbranch for a Clan meeting!"
